We are each led individually. But the truth is that if the beast is here, then most of us will die.

Ive been thinking about this, the desperate hordes of NPs. If you can secure your home, the best thing to do is starve a little and look dirty in public, appear as if you are suffering like the NPs. Line up for food and water like everyine else if its offered, no matter how much you have stored. It wont fool everyone in every situation but it will be a useful strategy to help many preppers get by and keep their supplies.

Also, get every family member familiar with a gun. Never let every adult/ young adult in the house be asleep at the same time, even if there is only two of you.

I am curious about what all the preppers will do if shit doesnt hit the fan?

Will you be prepared for love and positivity?
Will you be happy for the rest of your lives?
Will you enjoy life?

Or will you still be living in fear and prepping untill
you r dead?

Prepped as i am, i still choose NO doom over doom.

Hope for the best and prepare for the worst. One of the worst things that can happen is to be sold out for doom and no doom comes. Then you will be doomed. So if you are a prepper truly living according to "hope for the best and prepare for the worst" then you should prepare for that too.
Prepping is just fun though.

I'm preparing spiritually. I plan on having fun in this "chaos", maybe save a few lives, arm people with spiritual knowledge, etc. If I get taken out at some point, no biggie. My spirit will wake up somewhere else. What I won't do is live in fear or relegate myself to that of a "dog eat dog" survivalist. That's what the PTB do, not me. Death before dishonor, always.

This is the best article I have ever read about the importance of prepping that could be forwarded on to those who need a good wakeup call. I urge you to read the whole article and send it to those you think it might help. I did. Did even one of you get more serious after reading this?

(Less than 50% rule followed)

What horrors they will likely face after a cave-in of their nation’s economy, war, geophysical upheaval, or whatever crisis is bad enough to disturb or stop their nation from working and functioning? There are plenty of very potential SHTF events that are simply awaiting a catalyst to trigger them.

• The Non-Prepper (NP) has to realize right off the bat that 911 and other emergency calls in will be met with silence or some recording telling the caller not to panic.

•The (NP) that has no reliable self defense that can stop an attacker, will not get help from public services, and will become a victim of rape, assault, torture, or murder.

•The (NP) that has no reliable self defense and will not only be at the mercy of criminal elements, but also have to contend with many desperate animals, some with rabies.

•The (NP) that has no food will either have to find food or be ready to beg for food or worse, like sacrificing their bodies or other horrible acts or things to get a bite of food.

•The (NP) will have to go through the worst, most rancid conditions of garbage to just maybe find what they should have stored up.

•The (NP) will go through panic and near if not total psychosis looking for any water source right before their bodies begin shutting down during advanced stages of dehydration.

•The (NP) will go through unbearable trauma when their children and other people around them are crying, screaming, and suffering with intense hunger pains in their stomachs.

• The (NP) will have to deal with the awful stench of rotting wastes from many sources because they have not taken the effort to even store up waste disposal plastic bags.

•The (NP) will have disease and pathogens everywhere, not only because they have no trash disposal means, but because they haven’t prepared how to deal with trash and waste.

•The (NP) will have to live in very primitive conditions after things around them deteriorate rapidly, because they have neglected putting away anything to make life more bearable.

•The (NP) and those around them will likely develop all sorts of infective skin rashes from the lack of insight of storing up toilet paper. Imagine the smell for a moment.

•The (NP) will have to handle biting insects and other vermin that will collect amoungst the filth that will pile up. No pest control stored up along with no other supplies.

•The (NP) will have no way of treating sickness certain to follow a SHTF event, no first aid and likely no training or knowledge about how to treat the ill on top of this.

•The (NP) will have sick and dying people around them because of not being able to treat minor injuries. Didn’t even stock up on disinfectives. Unsanitary conditions lead to infection.

•The (NP) and others around them will experience much grief as they watch helplessly as their family members literally die of starvation right in front of their eyes.

•The (NP) won’t believe how desperate hunger drives them and those that mean everything to them to “trying” to eat food that taste so bad it gags them and comes back up.

•The (NP) will likely have family and friends around them that have also not prepared committing suicide because they can’t take it any longer.

•The (NP) will witness some of those people around them lose any sense of civilized humanity in them and behave like wild animals after some time from lack of necessities.

•The (NP) and family members, maybe friends also, will at some point end up barbecuing or eating raw the family dog, cat, bird, any pet dear to everyone for food.

•The (NP) will likely get into physical fights with other family members over any scrap of food available as rational thoughts are lost to wanton hunger.

•The (NP) as many other (NP’s) will eventually go out of any safety of their home looking for food and or water, become disorientated and lost, and die a hard death somewhere.

•The (NP) that is “lucky” enough to find some government help will likely have to almost sell their soul, probably all their freedom, to get tiny rations – just enough to keep them alive.

•The (NP) will see widespread violence and barbarism that will shock them to the core and will wish that they had purchased some form of firearm and stocked up on ammunition.

•The (NP) better get used to attempting to explain the children and other adults why they wasted all that money on junk, and didn’t buy any emergency food and other supplies.

•The (NP), no matter how positive they are will drop quickly into depression and lose willpower as having nothing to hold on to does this, along with lack of any nutrition.

•The (NP) will feel the worst guilt imaginable as they hear their family moaning in anguish from lack of anything to eat, knowing they could have done something to prepare.

•The (NP) will most likely not see the rebuilding and recovery after A SHTF event. They will, like almost all NP’s, be statistics. Some will die hours or a day before help arrives.

•The (NP) from lack of food, drinking bad water, no light at night, the horrid smells, no good self defense, the overall horror, will often be paralyzed with fear and despair, blank stare.

•The (NP) is totally helpless after SHTF, will have to rely totally on charity of those prepared to live. They will take all sorts of desperate measures likely to get them shot. They’ll attempt to eat hazardous foods like an animal trapped in a house will do, and get sick and suffer much before dying. The (NP) will likely die (ugly and hard) as they lived, unprepared for anything.

If we were to use one single word to describe the torments that someone who “chooses” not to prepare will go through after a true you know what hits the fan it would be “PREVENTABLE”.

Has it ever occurred to any of you Preppers that some of us Non Preppers are barely making it by at all? That sometimes we barely have enough to pay the bills? In my household, it goes like this: rent first, then bills, lastly food. NOTHING else until we get a little extra money. Do you preppers ever stop to think that maybe the true horror is not having enough to get by? All that matters to me right now is that we have enough to pay the bills? If the SHTF, it might be a blessing in disguise because then maybe just maybe we won't have to pay the bills that month

"I am curious about what all the preppers will do if shit doesnt hit the fan?

Will you be prepared for love and positivity?
Will you be happy for the rest of your lives?
Will you enjoy life?

Or will you still be living in fear and prepping untill
you r dead?

Prepped as i am, i still choose NO doom over doom."

1. you can never know if a shtf scenerio would happen or not happen, nobody knows the future, you must have a non-mania attitude of what could be reality if something where to happen to your country and its government if a nuke, emp, plague or war scenerio where to take it over. Being self aware and not plugged into the 'it can't happen' attitude is 1/2 the battle.
2. Being a prepper is actually part of a 'love' 'positivity' attitude. I'm preparing my family to survive something that could be a slow torturous death. To survive hunger, rape, murder as best as I can I would say is a kind of love....wouldn't you? I'm positive in my attitude that first I can do this, I can teach my children and husband to do this, and this is how you do it. We farm, can, garden and prepare not with a negative attitude but with a positive attitude. I love doing it, my children see that I love it and they love seeing me happy.
3. Will I be happy for the rest of my life if 'prepping' is never used? Of course, gardening is a joy, putting food on the table that I have gardened, canned, dehydrated and cooked myself is not only healthy, but a pure joy compared to opening a box of tuna helper and cooking it.
4.Life has to be sustained to enjoy it. If your surviving a plague, emp bomb or nuke and doing it with stores that you have either bought in advance, or grown yourself, I believe you will be happier then then the person who is running from house to house looking for a can of chicken meat to survive the day. If a scenerio doesn't happen, I simply have saved a lot of money by gardening and storing foods that will last up to 20 years or more. Do you know what is going to happen in 20 years. Think about war with Iran or china? We have had starvation in this country before. Who knows when the next HItler or Stalin will take over parts of the world and what that will do to our food supplies. I'm happy to know that I have tried my best to keep my family alive regardless.

I don't live in fear, I live in readiness. I love live, but I love God, and even God told Noah to prepare for what was going to happen. Don't look at preppers as fear mongers or crazy's, that is what the government wants you to think of them. To marginalize people who can remove themselves from under the government control. Preppers are an odd lot of people from many walks of life. They don't trust the government to care for a normal average citizans life in cases of emergencies, disasters and wars....do you?

Hello Germany,
thanks for the question.

Here is a random bible quote

"why do you spend money, on that which isn't food"
 Quoting: random bible passage

The financial institutions are already,
or have already,
squeeze many Americans into survival mode.

Preping discussions are not only valid, for some they are already real.

The number #1 rule for any survival situation is:
maintain a positive mental attitude.

"We CAN survive this."
"We WILL get through this."

But from rereading your quote above,
it almost sounds as if you have given up
before there is anything to survive.

So maybe preping discussion hold something even for you.
Preping can also build confidence in the young,
just like successfully packing your own camping trip
and having everything go well.

Even the prepper will eventually run out of things.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 14998685

This is true. That's why the Prepper needs to also become a Producer. Then he will achieve balance.

That is the only sustainable course of action over an extended crisis.

Prep now to live self-sufficiently, without the comforts of civilization. That means have food for when the food runs out. But that also means produce your own food (or at least prepare to do so) in order to provide food sustainably into the future.

Perhaps you've heard the old saying?:

Give a man a fish, and you feed him for a day.
Teach him to fish, and you feed him for a lifetime.

It's a similar concept:

Store food & other essentials now for your short-term needs.
Then grow & raise your own food for as long as needed into the future for your more permanent needs.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 16071591

all true!

Here is a good book to recomend to the non-prepper to help them understand the gravity of the situation and how to get started:

You only have to prep for the initial wave of idiots to eat each other, about 6months-year...

Than you should be able to hunt, gather and grow a garden.

I was saddened to not see the topic of arson addressed much in the articles. I would think it would almost be part of the group mentality of., got everything here, nothing to see" and leave charred remains of.homes I'm their.wake.

Re: How Horrific Will It Be For The Non-Prepper? - An Eye Opening Preview
If the SHTF, it might be a blessing in disguise because then maybe just maybe we won't have to pay the bills that month

but but but you live in a socialist utopia subsidized by US tax dollars for over 50 years
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 12702364

and if that is your condition, that is exactly WHAT the government of the US has tried to make everyone, that or actually on welfare and food stamps. don't people understand that that is absolute control by a socialist government. they WANT you living paycheck to paycheck, they don't want you to listen to alternative media and getting wise to them, they want you exhausted and stressed, zombified by MSNBC and CNN. Being brainwashed by liars and corporate media that is bought by the government. don't you see we are becoming a form of Russia?
You have horrors of not being able to get by yet you have a job, income and food to eat...
now take those three things away..... that would be the real horror.
I bet you spend money on some things you actually don't need and could use to prep if you were truly worried about it. I'm not going to sit here and list things off that you can do without, that you should shop sales and coupons, you should be going to second hand shops and salvation army for second hand clothes that are just fine. Shoot those places sell suits for 10 bucks that have been worn one time, dresses for 4 bucks and jeans and shirts for less then that. Don't tell me except for underwear and shoes you can't dress cheap but goodlooking in this country. People buy stuff wear it once and take it to goodwill.
If you want to prep, even if its for a few months worth of food, you can do it. There are many websights on what to buy to start out with. Just being AWARE is 1/2 your battle. Now start hunting out information. You live in apartment? Find a community garden, or find a friend who will LET you garden on their property. Start learning how to garden, 20 million web sights on all fruits and veggies how to garden, pick, dehydrate, can on the internet. Do this instead of watching tv.
Got tv? get rid of it, start watching internet you tube vid's on how to garden, can etc....Stop wasting time. Get the kids involved. Every Saturday is garden day. Got a balcony? Start some large pots of lettuce and salads making. Start eating lots of fresh salads, buy less premade eat now foods. Instead buy bags of rice and something to flavor them with.
Buy a dehydrator from a garage sale. Dehydrate bags of frozen veggies from Krogers (88cents) a bag. Store water and water bottles, learn how to make your own from the internet. You can buy a bag of beans or peas for 1.50, that would feed a whole family with some protein and fiber. 30 bags, 1 months of dinners. Buy spam or canned meat to flavor it with, or just grow herbs and store them for flavoring. (won't be a life saver, but it's nice).
And the real question is....
because YOU can't get enough money to put away some food for emergencies, why would I NOT do it if I can? Preppers realize not everyone can do this. Preppers usually prep for more then just themselves.
I'm sure the government if it survives the diseaster may have camps for people to go to. But I don't trust them to be anything more then death camps.

so the disaster happens

You are on your own for food.

Look around your house and apartment now, and what will you say then..."gee, I should have bought a few bags of rice instead of that____________________" you fill in the blank and do something about it.
Your not going to get much sympathy now for not prepping, you wont get ANY sympathy or help if you actually NEED the preps to survive.

Re: How Horrific Will It Be For The Non-Prepper? - An Eye Opening Preview

I agree with you on point 3, but i still have a problem with the whole doom thingy, you know.

"Doom" is taking place in our thoughts and we all know thoughts create matter.

So prepp for love instead for "doom"

How about a 'war on doomthinking'

The only doom for now will be coming from our governments...

Even the prepper will eventually run out of things.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 14998685

Yeah, that is common sense, but by the time that happens, atleast the prepper will have had the ability to make a plan on the basis of what is taking place around him.

What this article neglects to mention is that it may be a scenario the preppers didn't prep for that happens.
What if an asteroid hits and wipes out all of your prepped stock?
Or an ice age comes and freezes everything?
How about all the criminals who know you stocked up and want to take what you have?
Eventually you will be out of stock then what?
I'm not saying prepping isn't a good idea but you cannot prep for everything that could go wrong.
Considering the government has already passed the bill to confiscate your stock how long do you think you'll be able to keep it?
Personally I hope that whatever happens hits us so quick that we never felt it coming.

The condescending, self-righteous tone of this article irks me.

What about those who CANNOT prep much because we are barely making ends meet now??

There are an awful lot of people who are well aware of what's coming but have NO way of adequately preparing for it - that doesn't mean we live "ugly and hard" as this writer suggests...

I think 'doom' is just something that tv, government and naysayers describe preppers with. I think partially it is biblical and pycholigical.

I don't look at preppers as doomtards, or doommaniacs. I actually look at them as very wise and often a bit whacky and fun.

My grandparents were preppers in a way. They had an acre garden, grew their own food, canned everything for the winter, shot deer and froze the meat and gave extra's to all their kids. My grandmother canned, sewed her clothes, did her laundry by hand, made candles and soap. They fished in the river all the time, sold worms for fisherman for extra money and had animals from time to time on the farm. They could have lived off the grid forever until someone tried to take it from them, and they had guns though......
They weren't doom thinkers, they believed in sweat equity. They believe in sharing, giving, loving and having food always on their shelves. They had a potato and apple bin that held at least 300 lbs of each. There was always church and a large sunday dinner of deer meat and garden goods where the whole family sat down and ate together.
My grandparents where lovely, caring purposeful people who had a plan. It wasn't about surviving doom. It was about giving, loving, doing and not expecting anyone else to give them anything.
People who survived the depression are like that.
