The silver lining in the regional crisis cloud is that regional crises are geographically limited, which means you can leave the region to find safety.

So many people refuse to get that.

If your house is burning down around you, and all you have to fight the raging fire is toilet water, do you stay to try to put the fire out with your toilet water, no matter how futile the effort? Or do you escape with your life, to return later and rebuild after your house has inevitably burned itself to the ground?

Tough choice there. Sadly, it's often an emotional one that nets the wrong result.
