User ID: 16349636 United States 05/23/2012 11:55 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | TAMPA, Florida (AP) - It's going to sound like downtown Tampa is under attack. But don't worry, it's just a drill. A combined Special Operations force from MacDill Air Force plans to demonstrate its combat capabilities outside the Tampa Convention Center starting at 1 p.m. Wednesday. And organizers say it's going to get loud. The show of force also includes special operations teams from Australia, Brazil, Canada, Colombia, Jordan, Norway, Poland, Thailand and United Arab Emirates. [link to ybor.wtsp.com] I hope they get the word out to all the old folks in Tampa or some of those WW2 Vets hanging out at VFW halls and bingo parlors just might launch a counter attack in their RV's and wheel chairs! This could get ugly!!! |

TAMPA -- Come terrorist invasion or high water, Tampa aims to be prepared for the worst. Two drills are taking place in Tampa this week. One practices what to do if a hurricane sweeps up Hillsborough Bay; the other is a response to a scenario in which terrorists kidnap Mayor Bob Buckhorn. The latter is the exercise people are most likely to notice. Some parts of the drill will be hard to miss — such as the explosions and military helicopters circling downtown. The exercise is designed to gauge the response of special operations forces from the United States and nine other nations in a hostage rescue in which Buckhorn is the hostage. [link to www2.tbo.com] Looks like they have all the bases covered. The GOP convention will take place in August just when Hurricane season is heating up. |
