$2-3 trillion in untapped mineral deposits in Afghanistan!!!
A lot of people don’t seem to have any idea why we’re fighting a war in Afghanistan. The answer is very simple—Resources: Afghanistan is an absolute ‘Aladdin’s Cave’ of mineral resources. In 2010, Pentagon officials and American geologists discovered about $2-3 trillion in untapped mineral deposits in Afghanistan!!!

This means that Afghanistan, is the by far richest country on Earth in terms of unexploited mineral resources. The majority of the Afghan people would like nothing better, than to be able to exploit these resources with Western help and become wealthy, leaving behind their current, poverty stricken status. However, there’s an obstacle in their path—Taliban/Islamic Fundamentalism.

If the conflict with the Taliban can ever be stabilised, then the Afghans with Western aid, can start to exploit their country’s vast resources and attain a degree of solvency, but the Taliban don’t want this! Once ordinary Afghans become more affluent, then the Taliban and its archaic fundamentalism, will have much less influence and power. Afghanistan becoming a solvent, democratic country, is the thing the Taliban dread the most of all.
The UK Media, has focused on the deaths of the 400 soldiers fighting in Afghanistan, questioning the UK Government’s justification for a continued military presence in the conflict. To put things into perspective, 2000 people are killed a year on the UK’s roads in accidents. If we take the 400 UK soldiers have died so far in the Afghan War which has been going since 2001, this equates to approximately 36 soldiers killed a year since 2001. This a very low death toll relatively speaking. Getting killed, is an occupational hazard for a professional soldier—it’s what they get paid for!

The media has also focused on the £20 billion spent by the UK Government on this war. If we consider that £1000 billion equals £1 trillion, then spending £20 billion to secure resources worth £ trillions, makes extremely good economic sense. Although I fully accept that this is an extremely controversial viewpoint, once one considers these statistics, it becomes obvious why the US and UK Governments are prepared to invest all this money and soldier’s lives in the war.

Yep, a gargantuan lithium mine that will keep battery powered products going for many decades to come.

Right, just wanted to say that a 35 year friend of mine, who has NO interest in the type of things which we research and discuss stayed with me.

At this point I would never bring up alternative ideas but he did!!

A Royal Marine Commando who has now served multiple tours in Afghanistan and is a friend of my friend, said to my friend that :

the only reason we are there is because there is some mineral in the mountains which we must have.

This is what my friend told me.

Yeh, I can certainly believe that your friend and the royal marine commando were speaking the truth.
