Argument with a drunk last night...I need to vent!
Last night I went to pick up my wife, I got in argument with a damn drunk in front of the store who said I was "eyeballin'" him. Which I swear, I was not.

Anyway, we exchanged verbals and I started to drive off and he charged my car. I have CCW, so does my wife, I took my gun from its holster but did not point at the man or let him even know I had it.

What upset me was that he was drinking and driving, with his kid, and was trying to start a fight and he charged my car not once but twice.

I showed restraint and drove away. Our locals picked him up a little while later on DUI and public intox.

And the entire episode brings back really bad memories of drunk driving calls I ran on as a paramedic.

I really wanted to beat the guys ass, but I didn't because his little boy was crying and trying to get his dad to settle down.

I just drunk driving. Hate it! To me it's tantamount to being a child molester or meth cooker. Just a worthless piece of shit in my mind, I have just seen too many dead people because of D&D.

I worked an eleven year old girl in 2004 south of Tulsa who was pinned in a car by a drunk driver. She died while me and a flight nurse tried to intubator her.

It just makes me cry, and makes me so fucking angry! I need prayer. Love to all my GLP friends.

I got drunk last night too.
Except I was on the back porch
grilling red meat.
I find it safer for me to stay home and get drunk.

Beating his ass would not have made you feel any better about the situation in the long run. In fact you may have one day looked back with regret had you followed that course of action.

Love and prayers for you, OP. You are a good person, and showed restraint and I'm glad the person got arrested instead of going home scot-free.

I was married to an alcoholic and it's impossible to have an argument with a drunk, they are irrational and angry and won't remember any of it the next day anyway. Sucks because most alcoholics I know are intelligent, kind, good-hearted people who probably drink because they are self-medicating for their sensitivity to the pain of this world.

I knew a doctor who worked on a drowned 6-year-old girl for 3 hours before giving up and calling it. God bless all of you who work for the betterment of humanity and cope with a child dying in your arms. Most of us couldn't do it; I am glad people like you do.

I was drinking all day back in the summer of 86 and pulled into the mini mart for a soda before heading home just up the street. My harley was straight piped and rumbles when I down a gear or two.

Anyway, this car with a bunch of illegal little kids is sitting at the pump as I rumble by and the one little kid runs into the mini mart to tell his non english speaking father that fucked up ratty as biker did something to their car.

The dude looks up from his kid at me and smiles oh oh oh hi.

Moral a da story, not all drunks act the same and if their a biker on a harley, better look the other way.

You're wrong about that; it's too sweeping a generalization. The only thing to feel bad about later when it comes to kicking the shit out of criminals, is the hours of paperwork and explanations if you get caught at it and are called to justify it to a long line of bureaucrats. In short, it's just what the cops have to go through when they do their jobs and have to argue with some idiot who's never had to work the real streets. You can't complain about the weeds taking over your garden and choking the life out of your valuable plants if you're not willing to get in there and do some of clean-up on your own - same case with society, in case you're too up in the clouds to understand the metaphor.

So, being a biker makes you a bad ass? And being a drunk driving biker makes you a super bad ass? What the fuck ever. Go back to stroking it to Sons of Anarchy.

Sons of Anarchy and their real life equivalents 'The Devils Ride" on Discovery.....are almost as bad as the MS-13 type gangs.
...only difference......they have a clubhouse and are slightly smarter.....slightly.
At least they don't show "their business" on TV.

Sorry...went off on a tangent there OP.

Mega respect for keeping that child Safe..

Being an EMT Gives you more respect in my Eyes.

Having lost a Child in a RTA (Non Alcohol/drug or speed related) Doing CPR on a Child is something NO-ONE should ever have to do.

Anyone caught drink/drug Driving should be AUTOMATICALLY Banned from driving FOREVER

Thats "aggravated dui", driving under the influence with a child in the vehicle. In Arizona it will get you a mandatory four month minimum prison sentence

Re: Argument with a drunk last night...I need to vent!
I feel your need to vent op.

I got into an argument with a handi-transit driver outside the hospital in the drop off zone.

I dropped my boss off to pick up his wife, who has stage 4 pancreatic cancer and he came up to the car and started yelling at me, telling me he saw me drop off my boss, who is in his eighties.

I tried to explain to him, he went in to get his wife, but he wouldn't stop yelling.

I whipped out my bosses's wifes handicap permit and told him to shove off.

It rattled me for the entire day.

Jerk, if only he knew how sick his wife really was, I'm pretty sure he would have kept his mouth shut.
