The thing was no bigger than half of my hand, It was between to poles desperately screeching, And looking like it was about to take a mad dash into traffic. It almost did when I tried to approach it and I had to let it claw the hell out of me to prevent it from running into the street, Luckily it didn't have any diseases. No way in hell could I have just ignored that cat and left it there. It calmed down after a few minutes, And I ended up carrying it all the way home,I couldn't keep her though and ended up giving her to a good home. Things like that are the more heartbreaking because there's so little you can do. And you know their nonchalance and uncaring is extensive. It happens with children, as well... that hopeless feeling as you see someone not caring for or loving the sweet gifts they've been given but cannot do anything to help. I ended up in the hospital with an infected claw cut. And getting up every two hours to feed the wee thing, too. I finally took it to the vet to get help caring for her, and they took her and forced me to pay $80 to get her back. Those bastards! (OP) User ID: 15828781 United States 06/21/2012 07:57 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I live in a large apartment complex that has two very similar halves separated by a park area. If you are standing in one area, it looks just like the other area. One night I heard this pitiful meowing and looked out and saw a beautiful long haired siamese...I spoke to her and she meowed back, she seemed kind of desperate...so I gave her some food and she gobbled it down. Next night, same thing. Third night, same thing so I looked on Craigslist at the lost pets section and someone was looking for her! They lived in the other side of the park and apparently the cat was wandering around looking for her home. Anyway I called them and described where I live and they came right over and called her and were re-united right under my balcony. Feels super good, doesn't it? Quoting: Anonymous Coward 858876 That's awesome, it's enough to make me cry. I'm a huge softie, lol. That must have been overwhelming to watch. Thank you for feeding her. It can be a real journey of self-discovery in the act of being bridge-to-safety for one of these precious kitties. My family has a long-standing champion Cocker Spaniel breedership in Michigan. I never really gave cats much thought and actually thought of myself as a "dog-person"...just neutral on cats. On a trip to the AZ desert near Phoenix and happened to meet a lady at the open market one day selling veggies--and free kittens. They were especially pretty but I was on vacation and didn't think I needed one! Well, the vendor lady told me that she was desparate to find them homes--you know what her reason? COYOTES WERE EATING THEM! oh my gawd! She gave me directions to the schoolbus that she and her 2 children were living in about 10 miles into the desert. I was even a little nervous about going that far into the desert in case something broke on the car...but she said these were "show cats" and I was sure to fall in love with one. It turns out she was a professional cat breeder from L.A. running from an abusive spouse. He had threatened to kill the cats--so she couldn't leave them behind. Long and short of this is.....I found 4 that were beautiful calico and deluted torti that I adopted. I had 5 or 6 families from my RV park go out to her bus and adopt all the kittens and they were able to get help for her and her kids and move her into town. That was 14 years ago and I still have 4 cats from the litters the 2 females of the "cat bus kittens" had over the years! Happy ending! |

Thank you. I have since moved, but visit the neighborhood often to see if I spot them. I think they probably tried to find the house they lived in before the one they left...we had just barely moved there. My hope is that someone took them in, or if not, that they are still out there and still have each other. "Imagine no possessions" "As Above, So Below" )O( Rach |

User ID: 18365330 United States 06/21/2012 09:19 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | It is always nice to help someone. A couple of weeks ago we had a big rainstorm and I saw this little terrier running around covered in mud. I didn't want anything to happen to the little dog. It could have easily gotten hit by a car or attacked by bigger dogs. He had a collar on, but I was on my way somewhere, so I put him in the back yard until we got back. When we got back I called the number and got in touch with the owner, who was out of town. My dd gave the dog a good rinse and dry and we fed it. Later that day it hung out on the couch with me. Then owner's boyfriend came by and picked him up. I am not a dog person, but that was a pretty cool dog. It felt good to help him. The Orignal. Please don't request stalking. I'm just not that into you. |

Once years ago I saw a dog wandering the streets aimlessly, side roads but still dangerous. Really friendly looking trusting dog, collar and tagged. There was a phone number on the tag and I called, owners came to pick their dog up. Not very dramatic but there you have it! |

Poor little sweety. Soooo close to the brink, and smart enough to know it but too scared to save himself. Amazing that the person you took him to happened to be an animal lover... Well, not so amazing. Honestly, I think that pets have an instinct to find their 'owners'. A spiritual connection that leads them the right way. On some level, kitty knew you'd come by, and knew you'd save him. And get him 'home' to His Person. Aww good for you and the kitty and owner!
