You CANNOT think of it that way, and the answer is NO. My father commuted 50 minutes to his work, where he was manager of the CAD department at Cummins. So, the cut down on expenses and response time to urgent issues, we got an IBM PS/2 PC with a modem and connection to the internet via the dial-in connection to Cummins' T1 in 1985.
