Reports of earthquake like Boom in SoCal / San Diego

A mysterious boom shook much of San Diego County Friday afternoon, startling people from San Diego to Carlsbad to Escondido. The boom -- which was heard by some and felt by others -- occurred about 12:44 p.m., and was mostly experienced in coastal areas. The origin of the sound is unclear. The U.S. Geological Survey says there were no significant quakes in Southern California.

residents of San Diego County reported feeling a boom and slight shaking around 12:45pm today. According to people contacting our news department, the incident caused buildings to shake and windows to rattle for a few seconds
