I am not certain the political climate is conducive to an attack or no, but the window of opportunity is now open for a NATO operation.

It's the new moon, or at least within 24 hours of the new moon, definitely the beginning of the darkest nights in July. Now I wonder why that would be important..hmmm..... I'm not so sure on that, Nato can attack whenever it wants all assets needed are in place, just the order needs to be given, night superiority is theirs, only complication would be the russians helping defend assad in which case they also have the same technology. It is true that NATO is not limited, but they have a pattern of choosing the most beneficial times to their operational plans when they can. Due to the apparent mission and the parameters involved, I would expect cover of darkness to be crucial for both ground, air and combined efforts. As to long range naval operations, this will be of less value.
