Maya Archaeologists Unearth New 2012 Monument With ’End Date’ of Dec. 21, 2012
ScienceDaily — Archaeologists working at the site of La Corona in Guatemala have discovered a 1,300-year-old-year Maya text that provides only the second known reference to the so-called "end date" of the Maya calendar, December 21, 2012. The discovery, one of the most significant hieroglyphic finds in decades, was announced June 28 at the National Palace in Guatemala.

"This text talks about ancient political history rather than prophecy," says Marcello A. Canuto, director of Tulane's Middle American Research Institute and co-director of the excavations at La Corona.

What Canuto and Barrientos found was the longest text ever discovered in Guatemala. Carved on staircase steps, it records 200 years of La Corona history, states David Stuart, director of the Mesoamerica Center at The University of Texas at Austin, who was part of a 1997 expedition that first explored the site.

How do people that believe in the Maya calendar with end date of Dec 21, 2012 account for leap year? Maya's did not recognize leap year? shouldn't the world already have come to an end based on adding leap year? Thoughts??

Why do people still believe in this 2012 PROPAGANDA!!??

A very good sign that something is completely and utterly BULLSHIT is when Hollywood make a big-budget, mass advertised, doom movie - uh, such as Hollywood's '2012' movie.

[link to www.2012hoax.org]

As for the leap years (and the morons that think it's calculated in the Mayan calendar for some reason):

No solar calendar ever devised can do away with some form of leap days (or "intercalary days"), for these simple reasons:

There is not an integer number of days in a year (365.2524 days per year)8

There is not an integer number lunar cycles in a year (12.3683 lunar cycles per year)9

There is not an integer number of days in a lunar cycle (29.53059 days per lunar cycle)

[link to www.2012hoax.org]

So, what does the infinite nature of the Mayan calendar have to do with the world ending? As it turns out, plenty. First mix in a bit of mysticism, some astrology, some mayanism, add some scientific half-truths, some numerology, baseless claims, and utter nonsense, then shake.

The result will be an incoherent mess of ideas and claims, many of them contradicting each other, which is exactly what we see when we examine the claims of a 2012 doomsday.

There are a horde of different claims now being made for the December solstice, 2012. Most of these claims are impossible, many of the rest are such nonsense that “impossible” can’t even begin to cover it. Many of these claims are simply rehashed claims made during prior doomsday predictions. Some of them are overt rip-offs of prior doomsday predictions.

Many of these claims fall in the field of astronomy. Some of the claims being made in this field are:An alignment of the planets; An alignment between the earth, sun and the center of the galaxy; An alignment beween the solstice sun and the center of the galaxy; The solar system will pass through the galactic plane; Either the Sun or the entire solar system will pass through a 'dark rift'; That there are various doomsday objects that will impact the Earth in 2012, including Nibiru, Planet X, Asteroids, a comet, or the hypothetical Nemesis.

So, what - all this bullshit is supposed to happen on one day with no lead up (or any evidence whatsoever of any lead up)!!??

We are 6 months into the year and this year is no 'extraordinary' year so far.

To find the so-called proof you have to read into some of the FICTIONAL pseudoscience 2012 books by fraudulent authors (well, writers as authors indicates intelligence).

Or some of the equally fictitious, but more idiotic, New Age books or some occult books that consider the Age of Aquarius into the picture.

Seems to me, personally, the more people that look toward December this year for doom may be unprepared for anything sooner - such as the possibility of doom at the London Olympics (whilst many public know of 2012 through dumb-arse Nat Geo and History channel and movies, not very many at all are considering London Games or any other closer event). But that's just my thoughts, although chances are London Games will be just as bunk - either way though, the elite Synagogue of Satan Khazar Jewish scums do want their New Age New World Order or similar implemented soon to have dominate Communistic control of the Central Bank and Central Government.

But that's just me.

The Mayan long count calendar is based on days, not solar cycles.

The 2012 Phenomenon is based on the idea that Mayans believed their current world (the fourth world) ended after 13 b'ak'tuns:

The Popol Vuh describes the gods first creating three failed worlds, followed by a successful fourth world in which humanity was placed. In the Maya Long Count, the previous world ended after 13 b'ak'tuns, or roughly 5,125 years.

0.0.0.0.0 is the beginning of the first b'ak'tun and 12.19.19.17.19 is the last day of the thirteenth b'ak'tun.

The full size of 13 b'ak'tuns — thirteen multiplied by 144,000 days — is 1,872,000. (This is 5128.8 periods of 365 days, so you can already see that the information cited by Wikipedia for a rough translation of solar years has taken leap days into account.)

To use this number of days to figure out the "end date", in other words, the day that corresponds to 12.19.19.17.19, all we need to know is what equivalent Gregorian calendar date corresponds to the Mayan date 0.0.0.0.0. And to know if December 21, 2012 is that date, all we need to do is figure out 1,872,000 days from the start date.

For that, we turn to this well-sourced article by John Major Jenkins, a student of Mayan time:

But how are we to relate this to a time frame we can understand? How does this Long Count relate to our Gregorian calendar? This problem of correlating Mayan time with "western" time has occupied Mayan scholars since the beginning. The standard question to answer became: what does 0.0.0.0.0 (the Long Count "beginning" point) equal in the Gregorian calendar? When this question is answered, archeological inscriptions can be put into their proper historical context and the end date of the 13-baktun cycle can be calculated. After years of considering data from varied fields such as astronomy, ethnography, archeology and iconography, J. Eric S. Thompson determined that 0.0.0.0.0 correponded to the Julian date 584283, which equals August 11th, 3114 B.C. in our Gregorian calendar. This means that the end date of 13.0.0.0.0, some 5125 years later, is December 21st, 2012 A.D.1

According to Carl Calleman it ended in 2011. He is someone who studied the calender in depth. Other people who have similar theories is Terrence Mc Kenna and TIME WAVE ZERO. He is one of the most intelligent and engaging people I have ever listened to. His theory is almost identical to the Mayan calender and he came to it through the IChing. Basically they say that time is not linear as we have been taught but rather fractal in nature. Which means that at some point there is an end date and he also came up with a similar date and knew nothing of the Mayans at the time.

You should checkout TIME WAVE ZERO AS THERE ARE VIDS ON YOU TUBE.

Even so, we apparently have better astronomical equipment (such as the Hubble, Observatories (like the Vatican's Lucifer Observatory!!) and more detailed and documented reference).

Where are all the Mayan documents regarding astronomy? All this 2012 bunk is pulled out of ONE calendar and maybe some stone carvings that are possibly being misrepresented.

If the Mayans knew 2012 (or the 13.13... baktun cycle) was the end, wouldn't they have left a shit load of writings, inscriptions, evidence, hidden documents, etc, etc regarding this once-in-a-lifetime world ending event?

If I could see the future and saw my unborn children being killed in some way I'd at least take some effort to leave more than a shady calendar with a supposed 'end-date' - I'd leave a shitload of warnings to tell them about it to MAKE SURE they get the message.

The Mayan calendar is like a clock - it will hit midnight but the seconds hand will just keep on ticking and start a new cycle.

Jenkins may be well studied independent researcher but he has his own wacky ideas as well. He used a lot of drugs and hallucinogens in the past so who knows what or who (as in demonic powers) has been aiding him in his knowledge and research. He seems to think that aliens or some beings will land on that date.

This seems to sum him up pretty well:
Jenkins' iconic status as an "independent" researcher of the Maya is undermined by his collaboration with "2012 tourism" interests that promote his work. Though he publicly downplays the idea of apocalyptic events, he indulges in wild speculation that "transdimensional beings" will emerge in 2012, and that the Maya thought of the 2012 date as "the end of time and space"

This my last post for this thread:

What is Mayanism?

Mayanism is "…a non-codified eclectic collection of New Age beliefs, influenced in part by Pre-Columbian Maya mythology and some folk beliefs of the modern Maya peoples"1.

Mayanism draws on various fringe beliefs, and is heavily influenced by references to Atlantis, extra-terrestrials, ancient astronauts, and various other pseudoscience and pseudohistory beliefs. Many of these influences were brought into the New Age movement by early authors such as Madame Blavatsky and Rudolf Steiner, and others by more recent authors such as John Major Jenkins and Jose Arguelles.

According to the believers in Mayanism, the fact that the Maya long count calendar reaches a round number signals that some cataclysmic, apocalyptic, or spiritually significant event will occur. This is not much different than the Millenarianism2 that was
prevalent leading up to January 1st, 2000.

If I was one to drink alcohol I'd be one of those with a hangover the next day as he says, but being a life-long fitness and health nut, I guess I'll just have a nice dinner then a long romp in the sack with a beautiful woman on 12/12.
