You would have to convince the farmers. The 1-2% of the population in the U.S feeding the other 98% are the ones buying the BULK of this product. Their plants are GM to be "round-up ready" so they can spray the living shit out of their crops with it, kill the weeds but their plants don't die. Since GMO plants are known by Nature to be incomplete, if the plants are not sprayed with roundup, they will be entirely consumed by insects, the insects are merely doing their job in the natural order of things. Convince the farmers to pursue permaculture with NATURAL seeds and plants or convince all of THE PEOPLE to grow their own food forest, then you might be able to shut down the agri-chemical companies, until then, we're fucked.....

It would be nice if that were true, but for numerous reasons, it's not that easy. They've had their game planned and bases covered for many years.

Monsanto gave 658,207 to federal candidates in the 2010 election cycle. They spent 6,560,000 for lobbying. 1,030,000 was for outside lobbying. The remainder went to in-house lobbyists.

They wanted to corner the food market and they have. They have written and sponsored "food safety" bills which critcs say impose industrial, anti-farming standards" to independent farms and subject those who do not use chemicals and fertilizers to severe penalties.

The Food Safety Modernization Action of 2009, was introduced by Rosa DeLauro. Her husband, Stanley Greenburg, works for Monsanto. This is the bill that wants to criminalize seed banking, confiscation and fines for farmers, and GPS tracking of animals, along with warrantless searches.

70 percent of our food is GMO brought by Monsanto. Monsanto campaigns to undermine organic agriculture and promotes article that state, among other things, "'According to recent data compiled by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control (CDC), people who eat organic and natural foods are eight times as likely as the rest of the population to be attacked by a deadly new strain of E. coli bacteria (0157:H7)'.

The article distorted a study from the Journal of Food Protection that showed that organic food does not contain more pathogens than conventionally grown. In fact, Robert Tauxe, M.D., chief of the food borne and diarrheal diseases branch of the CDC, there is no such data on organic food production in existence at their centers and the claims are "absolutely not true."


In an article published by New York Times on Oct. 25th, 1998, called "Playing God in the Garden," Philip Angell, Monsanto's director of corporate communications, said, "Monsanto should not have to vouchsafe the safey of biotech food. Our interest is in selling as much of it as possible. Assuring its safety is the F.D.A.'s job".

FDA's statement of policy on GMO foods, according to the Federal Register, Vol. 57, No 104 (1992) p. 229. is that "Ultimately, it is the food producer who is responsible for assuring safety".

Though the State and local Laws vary obviously. I have an Ag neighbor. He's told me REALLY bad stories about how his fellow farmer, rancher, and himself are all getting totally fucked over because of these goddamn insane laws. More and more taxes are being placed upon them all for going for more natural practices while the GMO shit is being available for more and more cheaper and whatnot seeming goodness.

So for you two, I'd suggest you actually at least take a look at the problem before bitchin' at the farmers and ranchers. It's not THEIR faults at all. Everyone needs to be partly semi sufficient. I only have a small backyard and utilise every inch if it growing vegetables. I'm a vegan and eat them raw. I don't buy gifts for family and friends. I give them seeds and soil and anything else they need to grow their own. They did resist at first but now I go to friends places and they can't wait to show me how their garden is going. The only way we can turn this around is to forget materialism and go back to nature. I sell nothing. Everyone comes over including my neighbours and pick the veg they want to eat that night.
My grocery bill for three of us is about 50 dollars a week!
