Considering 1520 is basically over the limb, this is probably over an X-Flare. It's not visible on the HMIIC Image, so, you are not measuring the Base which harbors the highest X-Rays.

Considering it's over the limb, it would be kinda hard to be Earth directed...

It is still an impressive display, and most definitely an X-Flare.

You may find this ACE report of interest. It's about SEP events from beyon the limb.

I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw that chart. There isn't anything this should be coming from. It must be a large flare to register so high without seeing the base.

Here's a video talking about a backside flare that registered low but most probably was an X-Flare because the highest energy portion of the flare wasn't measured. Same as with this one, the highest energy wasn't measured but it was STILL almost an X. This had to of been a big flare.

No, no. We've been having a proton event ongoing since yesterday's huge CME from the same region. I was just speculating that it may rise further from this even bigger flare. Sorry if I confused anybody, haha.

The proton jump and still on started on afternoon July 17.
That doesn't mesh with the current flare, does it?

It will probably make it back around, if it does, it will be renumbered. The numbering was developed back when they couldn't track the Spots on the backside, so, they were always renumbered because they couldn't be sure it was the same spot.

The third link is now in calibration mode. They have been doing that lately when a large flare erupts. You would think it would be calibrated by now...

Stereo A is starting to show it now. The same downward trajectory,
