wnder what it means?

It means, that unless drastic action is taken, and by that, I mean relocation of a viable breeding colony to Antarctica in the Southern hemisphere, in two or three years, our friends the polar bear will be no more.

You are absolutely right!
“One of the saddest lessons of history is this: If we’ve been bamboozled long enough, we tend to reject any evidence of the bamboozle. We’re no longer interested in finding out the truth. The bamboozle has captured us. It’s simply too painful to acknowledge, even to ourselves, that we’ve been taken. Once you give a charlatan power over you, you almost never get it back.” – Carl Sagan

The earth changes. Greenland wasn't always covered with ice. Polar bears evolved relatively recently because of the ice. If the ice goes away, bears won't need to be "polar" anymore. In a few hundred or thousand years, the ice may return and maybe polar bears will once again evolve from brown bears.

I laugh at the global warming people just like I laughed at the global cooling people in the 70s and the acid rain people in the 80s. What would they have said had they been alive during the ice age?

has anyone looked into an increase in ice somewhere else in the earth, a few years ago there were pics and articles about the ice melting in the artic and then they showed that the glaciers were growing elsewhere in antartica, just asking?

Re: Ice Melts in Greenland July 8-12: 97% IN FOUR DAYS. read it and weep.
Extent of surface melt over Greenland’s ice sheet on July 8 (left) and July 12 (right). Measurements from three satellites showed that on July 8, about 40 percent of the ice sheet had undergone thawing at or near the surface. In just a few days, the melting had dramatically accelerated and an estimated 97 percent of the ice sheet surface had thawed by July 12. In the image, the areas classified as “probable melt” (light pink) correspond to those sites where at least one satellite detected surface melting. The areas classified as “melt” (dark pink) correspond to sites where two or three satellites detected surface melting. The satellites are measuring different physical properties at different scales and are passing over Greenland at different times. As a whole, they provide a picture of an extreme melt event about which scientists are very confident. Credit: Nicolo E. DiGirolamo, SSAI/NASA GSFC, and Jesse Allen, NASA Earth Observatory

"Ice cores from Summit show that melting events of this type occur about once every 150 years on average. With the last one happening in 1889, this event is right on time," says Lora Koenig, a Goddard glaciologist and a member of the research team analyzing the satellite data. as some of you may know, i broke the stories about drought and farmland...

well here's a bit more on that, related to this thread:

[link to www.giss.nasa.gov]

Early in the century, irrigation is primarily localized over Southern and Eastern Asia, leading to significant cooling in boreal summer (June-August) over these regions. This cooling spreads and intensifies by century's end, following the rapid expansion of irrigation over North America, Europe, and Asia. Irrigation also leads to boreal winter (December-February) warming over parts of North America and Asia in the latter part of the century, due to enhanced downward longwave fluxes from increased near surface humidity. Precipitation increases occur primarily downwind of the major irrigation areas, although precipitation in parts of India decreases due to a weaker summer monsoon.

look at the map.

reading the other threads. a couple comments stick out, like, 'check this winter's ice cap size, bigger than normal' (which i will do) and 'if greenlands ice melts we gain 27 feet of sea level globally.'

would really like someone to explain to me how global warming is a myth. i don't get it, never did, never really plugged into the global warming thing....just paying attention.

It isn't a "myth," it's a naturally occuring earth cycle. The earth used to be warmer, and now it's getting warmer again.

the earth isn't always covered in ice, for most of the time there is no ice on the surface. all the ice melted before 3 times, the earth didn't become unbalanced.

even if all the ice melts (which it will) the water weighs the same as the ice did, so why would it cause balance problems? the weight of all the ice is tiny compared to the weight of the planet.

the magnetic pole shift happens all the time and is well documented, as magnetic compasses have been used for navigation for a long time. therefore it is necessary to know where the compass is pointing to navigate accurately. magnetic pole shift has no appreciable effect other than requiring some calculations for navigation.

physical pole shift would be catastrophic, however it has never happened, and probably never will happen due to the enormous forces that would be required to make it happen.

From what I've read, the entire solar system is heating up, but that said, the warming is affecting us in ways such as Anne posted

What I wonder is what happens next. The seasons and weather patterns are changing and even as we have these terrible droughts, there are record cold temperatures being recorded as well

Unbalance may lead to a tipping point which triggers colder temps in coming years, not heat as some think.

Of course this is all speculation, and if anyone does know the truth they are probably locked in a windowless room somewhere, lol

Personally, I suspect that after this blast furnace of a summer we will have unusually cold months ahead.

As you said, buckle up for a wild ride. Warmists and skeptics can probably agree extreme changes lie ahead.

I do know I don't want to own any low lyiing property right now. Whether storms or flooding, I think it's probably safer at higher elevations inlandddd

5 stars for you Anne.
