A bit of math here:
The earth is coverered 3/4 by water. The earths radius is about 6400 km (6.4 x 10^6 m)
The surface area of a sphere is 4*pi*r^2
The volume of water needed to raise the ocean 1" is
3/4*4*pi*(6.4 x 10^6 m)^2*1 in/39.39 in/m
= 9.7 Trillion cubic meters = 9.7 trillion tons of water
So even if the ice sheet is loosing 100 billion tons a year
it would take 97 years at this rate to raise the oceans a total of 1"
1 Inch in 97 years..............Oh the horror.
Remember when the "ozone hole" was going to kill all of us.......then someone pointed out that ozone holes form over the poles ever 6 months during the winter on that part of the earth........then it regenerates every summer.
