Re: Gas-Like Odor Rolls in Off the Ocean in Southern CA
O.K. it's me again. I live in SD close to La Jolla and my toilet has been bubbling all morning. Is this happening to anyone else in this area? It makes me think of the houses coming off their foundations in Louisiana was it? The other thing I failed to mention cause I forgot about it was besides the green patches on the water there also seemed to be lights in certain areas. My family members said they thought it might be divers, but I don't know cause they were down there for hours and I have never seen that before when having a fire there, which we have done numerous times in the past. I am really starting to feel sort of freaked out by all of this. Any ideas?? And yes I know, call a plumber! LOL

Earthquake Light:

An earthquake light is an unusual luminous aerial phenomenon that reportedly appears in the sky at or near areas of tectonic stress, seismic activity, or volcanic eruptions. Once commonly challenged, it was not until photographs were taken during the Matsushiro earthquake swarm in Nagano, Japan (which occurred from 1965 through 1967) that the seismology community acknowledged their occurrence.

Your toilet bubbling is strange. Are you on a septic or sewer system? if septic, it might be time to pump, if sewer that would seem to indicate sewers backing up, or you have a stoppage.

Keep us posted if its not a stoppage. Please no details on that!

I didn't read all of the thread, so I am sure others have said this, but I believe that the odor is a precursor to a HUGE earthquake.

I have heard about this in the San Diego area before. One idea was that some sulphur like substance was coming up through rocks. People got sick and went to the hospital. I had the idea it was coming from the earth but not from the ocean. I wonder what it is?

I don't think so cause it was white light. I had wondered if maybe some sort of lighting had been installed since last summer. But I have never seen lighting installed under the water in a surf zone before. But just cause I have not seen it, does not mean it may not exist.

I grew up in Long Beach and its unfortunately typical to have some "fume" pockets occasionally
 Quoting: BambiGirl

I live next to Long Beach and know what you mean about the gas smell coming from the drilling platforms. There are no drilling platforms, to my knowledge at least, off of the San Diego coast.

There might be pipes up and down the coastline, but also there are large pockets of oil and methane. I'm thinking that this is more of a natural occurrence, like the ground moving under the ocean producing and oil and methane burp, like what happens sometimes before an earthquake.

That's just my feeling on it anyway, I'm doubting that it's from a broken pipe or anything manmade.

Gas odors are "normal" in So Cal.

Do you remember when that refinery had an explosion and blew windows out? Crazy shit there...lol

Actually, gas odors ore not ''normal'' in So. Cal.

Sorry for double post but I don't know how to edit a previous spot. Yes I was thinking earthquake too and earthquake lights came to mind. But I always thought they were in the sky so I don't know. Something coming up from the ground makes some sense, though I can't believe it would be white light. I am planning to call our leasing office right now and find out if others are complaining about their toilets. we are on the sewer and that system here in SD is so outdated and awful that nothing would surprise me. If it is something really strange or that I think may indicate something far bigger than just our buildings bad pipes I will let you know.

A few years ago at this time of year Fox News( I know)was talking about a similar odor.

At the time I thought it was a way of testing the drift of something man-made

I wish someone would define "gaslike odor" since OP's vid describes black oil substance aerosole on windshield of car and seen in the air.
The smell is like gasoline, right?
Not methane as some are bringing up in their posts.

Theory why this is aerosoled gas (which it certainly appears to be) are boats/ship disposing of old engine grime/oil not far offshore through hosing that doesn't reach the waterline and blown by wind.

Other possibility relates to private or commercial aircraft having got lazy in their disposal and simply release it once they're up and flying.
I could see how Chemtrailing pilots would view all waste as dumpable from the sky. Yeah I could.

There is a simple answer to this, I'm sure of it.

I don’t think its coming, I feel it coming, I have been waking up the past week from what feels like tremors but I wake up check the USGS and nothing...like a spidey sense kind of thing.

So Cal IS due for a large EQ. But I wouldnt worry about the little ones. They let off pressure

Oh and btw, quakes DO NOT release pressure.

Common Myths and Misconceptions

Can small EQ's relieve stress to prevent large ones?

If you look at earthquake statistics in most regions of the world, including California, you will find that for every magnitude 5 earthquake, there are about 10 that have a magnitude of 4, and for each magnitude 4, there are 10 with magnitude 3. Unfortunately, this means there are not enough small earthquakes to relieve enough stress to prevent the large events. In fact, it would take 32 magnitude 5's, 1000 magnitude 4's, or 32,000 magnitude 3's to equal the energy produced in one magnitude 6 event.

in only two days.
perhaps this region is experiencing some pressure on the plates?

Natural gas is odorless, They put substance in commercial gas so you can smell it for safety reason.

Well we had a fire at La Jolla Shores on Saturday and one of the first things I noticed was that there were areas of the wave that were a kind of fluorescent green color. It was not everywhere but just in some areas. It almost looked like anti-freeze had been pooling on the surface of the water.
 Quoting: TerrorByte 15766346

It's a Methane Hydrate of some kind :

Finally, just looking around with our “alien eye” resulted in one very exciting observation last year: methane hydrates (“methane ice ”), which, at least at the site where we observed them, turned out to be extremely brightly fluorescent, although they were quite inconspicuous under normal lighting conditions (Fig. 5). Methane hydrates, in addition to being a potential energy source, were suggested to have played a critical role in climate change . Our observation may lead to a new approach for mapping them on the seafloor; however, more observations are required to develop a proper technology.

Methane Hydrates : A Chemical Compound - not necessarily 'ice' :

Methane clathrate (CH4•5.75H2O[1]), also called methane hydrate, hydromethane, methane ice, fire ice, natural gas hydrate, or gas hydrate is a solid clathrate compound (more specifically, a clathrate hydrate) in which a large amount of methane is trapped within a crystal structure of water, forming a solid similar to ice.
