At high altitudes this water vapour emerges into a cold environment, and the local increase in water vapour can raise the relative humidity of the air past saturation point. The vapour then condenses into tiny water droplets which freeze if the temperature is low enough. These millions of tiny water droplets and/or ice crystals form the contrails. The time taken for the vapour to cool enough to condense accounts for the contrail forming some way behind the aircraft's engines. At high altitudes, supercooled water vapour requires a trigger to encourage deposition or condensation. The exhaust particles in the aircraft's exhaust act as this trigger, causing the trapped vapour to rapidly condense. Exhaust contrails usually occur above 8,000 m (26,000 ft), and only if the temperature there is below −40 °C (−40 °F). |

It is almost like they are trying to coverup spraying from planes or whatever technology they use but it is almost more noticeable. Have video today of a plane making the typical "X" pattern ut turning the sprayer off a minute later. | Anonymous Coward (OP) User ID: 21264489 United States08/04/2012 06:50 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | i am surprised that all this thread got was the putin face pic. it is unbelievable how someone can look at an object obviously lower than 15000 ft up fly across the sky spraying and not ask questions. he flew through another trail making an x and then his spray started sputtering, like when you reach the end of an...an aerosol can. then the trail just stops. most people with a brain i would think would question what the hell that plane was doing. instead we are told it is contrails. unbelievable that most people are completely unaware. my uncle flies for a major airline, the first time i brought this up he tried to explain it away. the next month after showing him more footage he was questioning himself. this is a crazy fucking world |

On other days, when it's fresher you can see a) planes flying EAST/WEST/NORTH/SOUTH B U T b) the trails ONLY covering the exact same spots with the planes flying all over the same area with their trails starting ONLY when they reach the previously sprayed area and turning the trails OFF shortly after exiting it (and don't tell me that ONLY IN THAT AREA the conditions were exactly right for the trails to produce... haha) |

Tell me how a plane flying at low altitude is able to form a contrail when it is 110 degrees F on the ground below. My calculations show that if it was 110 F on the ground, dew point 57, barometer 29.91 at 1,000 ft above sea level than it would be about 57 degrees farenheit at 10000 ft. How is that cold enough for a contrail?  |
