Jesus, plain and simple. The whole of the Bible is about Him. The more we try and be perfect, the more unrelateable we become. The more we insert ourselves into the gospels, the more we don't see the true picture. The Gospels are not about us, but about Him. Jesus is the answer to everything. He is what the gospels are about. He is who the gospels are pointing to, not to us. Not to who we should be, but to who He is. He is the Way, the Truth, and the Life. In the gospels, He is being explained, and until we come to the full understanding of who He is, the Truth, then we look for answers everywhere else. We see this big world and our intricate bodies and minds and think it's about us. We think we're supposed to solve some sort of mystery. That's what I've tried to do most of my life, and it got me nowhere. I always was back to square one, trying to solve the big mystery/problem. The gospels are revealing the answer. Revealing the Way. Jesus is simple and everything. He made it as simple as possible for us to experience perfection. To know Him. He's quoted in the gospels as saying I am the Way. He's saying it's Me. He's making it as simple and clear as possible. It's Me. I am the Way. I am the Truth. Why would He say that? Why when he was going to His death would He say that He came to testify of the truth? Why would that be His big mission statement? Because He's the Truth. He is reality. He's undistorted, unblemished...perfect. The perfect sacrifice. The unblemished Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world. Perfect.
So for all those who are expecting Christians to be perfect, you're in for a very rude awakening. They're going to let you down time and time again. They're going to frustrate you and piss you off. They're going to say one thing and do another. We are not Jesus. Jesus is Jesus. The gospels are about Him, not us. He will never let you down. Jesus is perfect, we'll never be. And if we say we will be, good luck trying. It's not about us, it's about Him.
