The humor is unmatched and the stars were genuine and real(smokers and drinkers) lol. Maybe that is why they were funny. They didn't need heavy sexual connotations or swearing to be funny either. They used wit and intellect to get people to laugh....and laugh many did! Today's comic don't have a pimples worth of talent. Those comedians back then could sing and dance like no other. It saddens me where we have gone in the past few years. Sites like this wouldn't have stood a chance in those days. It seemed everyone was fairly happy and enjoying life! I think you hit the nail on the head. The funniest jokes are always subtle.. The best music is tasteful.. The sexiest woman isn't the one who acts and dresses whorishly.. The greatest movies leave you wondering.. Today.. it is all so blatant.. in your face.. nothing left to the imagination.. I miss variety shows. Those were the days. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 21258417 United States 08/08/2012 09:51 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | The late 50s to the 70s seemed like a simpler relaxed time, maybe cause we were young. I miss it. The predictions of the future were wonderous things, look at us now....not even a flying car yet. Jackie Gleason,Red Skelton and Dino ruled and the government seemed more civic minded, now they won't even patch potholes. I'm almost sorry I lived long enough to see our future....far from wonderous. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 21427717 But america was going through a difficult time... the vietnam war... No time was perfect... I liked tv growing up in the 80s and 90s... The weekly series shows were interesting... Unlike the shit on tv today... |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 21525624 We took it for granted then. Yes, things are piss poor now. Today we have boom boom cars and the low IQs that drive them. The U.S. is done. It's just running on the nerve endings that still fire as the body dies. Well when are children's Archetypes are Rappers, Gangsters and Celebrities it creates one totally fucked up society. In my day Archetypes and Heroes were Jesus, policemen, firemen, Doctors and similar folks like that. ..and used to be the President was the most dignified man in America, not an arrogant, petulant nonsensical narcissist. Hey, that sounded like Agnew, who was VP during the Welk era. |

They were so good people would turn up the sound to drown out Kitty Genovese being raped outside. You could watch the show without having to worry naggerz was moving in down the street. People far more intelligent than millennialss would sign & dance to Welk while the ghettos grew. |

I see it all the time, elderly waiting in line at the local cafe and a bunch of punks sitting down in the waiting seats not offering them to the elderly. It is disgusting and vile. Quoting: Superfly4444 The youngest "elderly" today are Baby People far more intelligent than millennialss, and they helped create the culture where the elderly are not respected. They probably don't like it much now -- but, you reap what you sow |
