Re: Calling all Iconoclasts... Enter. The Truth of Our Origins.
Basic to modern astronomy and astrophysics is the idea of the beginning of all things...a starting point for the cosmogony of the Universe...All religious traditions, mythologies, and official party lines (be they communistic, republican and simply ludicrous) often go along with this off-the-wall theorizing in order to claim some measure of legitimacy...It’s as if without a beginning, a tradition, a glorious and illustrious past (filled with glorious and illustrious leaders -- usually male)...without some definitive grounding in the past, a supplicant to the new order (be it political, religious, scientific or whatever) might have doubts about one’s future in said order...It's the perceived need for a connection with the Divine or on a more mundane level...Roots...all tied with a sense of individual and mutual destiny...It’s about the essential need for legitimacy...a subject over which politics, science and/or religion have a tendency to really get intense and exorcised...

You went to LOT of hard work and offered some valid points. Thanks for that.

However, as a Born Again follower of the LORD JESUS CHIRST, I simply want to say I stand by my solid conviction plus a great deal of genuine personal PROOF that God Alimighty is the CREATOR of all life.

hf Someday will to will see this reality.

Another deluded gnostic thinks he's outwitted God... Ya know, the usual.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 8597527

You didn't even read it did you? Typical intolerant religious nut.... He clearly states that life was brought here by an extra-terrestrial source, that could be god or some other life form. I simply can't understand how every religion thinks their 100% correct, just think about it for a second, the bible as well as most other religious books have been rewritten over and over. Most religions have many similar aspects, hinting towards a common story of our origin that has been warped over the years through culture and retelling.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 22383778

Actually, he clearly states, "We don't think God did it." that only leaves " other life form" whose creation he doesn't attempt to explain.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 17299239

Yea and that's why his post is meaningless. If he can't explain how life itself came to existence, why does it matter how humans came to existence?
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 428255

Our puny human minds cannot fathom the secrets of the universe. We can try but we will get nowhere because it is kept hidden from us at this point in our human growth. Only our soul knows and for now it's keeping mum.

God sneezed...Or went “Ommmmmmmmm”...Or possibly thought the first sound, and our universe began?...Or maybe the universe was simply restarted, having already gone through a complete cycle of universal expansion and subsequent contraction...In any event, the current edition of The Perils of Pauline, Paul and all the other Poor wretches on the planet commenced at 9:15 am (MST) on November 15th (an auspicious day if there ever was one)...roughly 15 billion years ago...It was a Thursday...

Re: Calling all Iconoclasts... Enter. The Truth of Our Origins.
I'm looking through the posts and seeing a lot of biblical postings.

First off, I'm a Christian...

But, the Bible obviously has various meanings implanted within the text. Did it not ever occur to you that some passages might be allegorical, some might have historical, literal, and esoteric meanings, some might elude to astrological occurences?

If you look at Revelations, this is plainly true. There are multiple meanings, multiple events, on earth, in heaven, in the solar system going on all at once, three or four cycles occuring simultaniously. Symobolic meanings, literal meanings, esoteric meanings, astrological meanings, all within one set of text...

Who's to say that one of the meanings in Genesis is that Ad'am and Eve were merely representative of the beginning of a species created through genetic engineering, that the tree of knowledge was representative of the leap from an instinctual animal to sentinent being (the fusing of chromosomes 2 and 3 into one chromosome), that the garden was not merely representative of the earth prior to this genetic leap, prior to this change to a sentinent being, perhaps we've been in paradise all along but this "change" has made it impossible for us to see this, or live without conscience as we did prior to this leap.

He placed at the east of E'den, Cherubim with flaming sword which turned every way, to keep the way of the tree of life (the sunrise and the sunset).

And the Lord God said, Behold, the man is become as one of us, to know good and evil, and now, lest he put forth his hand and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live for ever;

I mean really guys, if Ad'am and Eve weren't meant to be simply representative of the beginning of a genetically engineered species, then where did Cain's wife, and many other wives in the begats, come from?

And, after all, a person created from the tissue (DNA) of another sounds exactly like genetic enginering to me.

And the rib, which the Lord God had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man.

And Ad'am said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh, she shall be called Woman, because she was taken from man...

 Quoting: Saddletramp

It really amazes me that religious doctrine and dogma has so influenced the way we interpret the Bible. Does everyone simply have to have, or expect, the meaning of something to be explained to them. Does no one keep an open mind anymore?!?!?

I think, as far as the Causal Beginning,
its more than a Human mind can truly understand while still in body.

That said, perhaps it's something like;

The Great Sentience, that just Is, decided that it could experience itself in an infinite amount of ways and then shared its very self in the creation of all things, so that in this dispersal of it self, it could have the ultimate journey.

Thanks,

The Bible is a wonderful book, and the intersting thing is, it's all there, as long as you read it with an open mind and dimensional thinking. If you let priests or pastors just tell you what the bible means, you're only getting a very small percentage of the actual information within the text...

Re: Calling all Iconoclasts... Enter. The Truth of Our Origins.
The Enuma elish (“When in the heights”), was the most hallowed, religious-political-scientific text of Babylon, the direct cultural descendant of ancient Sumer. The Sumerian Epic was read as a central part of the New Year rituals, often portrayed in the Babylonian equivalent of a Passion Play. Texts found in the library of the Assyrian king, Ashurbanipal, in Nineveh (a city of biblical renown) recorded a tale of creation that matches, in some parts word for word, the tale of Genesis.

And yet the Sumerian version was written well over a thousand years before Genesis was cast in its present framework. In The Seven Tablets of Creation (the Enuma elish, by yet another name), the 7th tablet is entirely devoted to the exaltation of “the Lord” -- Marduk, Ashur (Assyrian), or what-have-you. The tablets, in effect, devoted six pages to the handiwork of the Lord, and the seventh to a day of rest, when everyone could glorify the Lord. Sound familiar?

The Sumerian Epic of Creation, thoroughly beat to death, has the wonderful quality of being colorful, poetic, detailed, and internally self-consistent. The question that might arise, however, at least from those more inquiring minds (those who read the National Enquirer, for example), is whether or not the description is externally consistent, i.e. does it agree with other sources -- sources ranging from the Bible to the observations of modern day science.

The biblical tale of Genesis was originally written down for the first time circa 600 B.C.E while the Hebrews were being held captive in Babylon, but with access to early Sumerian texts. The resulting first chapter of the Bible is considered by many scholars as an extremely brief, executive summary of the Sumerian texts.

Genesis, of course, reports only upon the creation of the Earth and “Heaven”. The latter is, according to the Sumerians, the “firmament”, also known as the asteroid belt. The asteroid belt -- aka Heaven -- is thus the veil between the inner, terrestrial planets and the outer planets...

There are, obviously, several passages in the Bible that still elude my understanding, one from Genesis that comes to mind is the part in the begats where it says...

And E'noch walked with God...

How many meanings could one apply to that one passage?!?!? There is the obvious literal interpretation, but how many esoteric meanings are available? So many I doubt I will ever get a full understanding of that one simple passage, but the funny thing is, I remember it, and if I keep an open mind, some fact or theory from modern times will put this passage into perspective for me, and give me a truth that has perhaps eluded scholars for centuries...

Yes, I think it's obvious that many of the "tales" in the Bible are briefs of mythos from earlier civilizations, the story of Noah, or Jonnah are good examples of this. This is especially true in the Torah or the Old Testement, the New Testement is a quite different read, but everything remains open to interpretation, particularly the prophetic passages in the New Testement, so many meanings layered into sometimes very short passages...very interesting stuff...

Yes folks, a virtual roller coaster ride, wherein we shall try to endeavor and answer the really profound questions that have plagued most of our lives:

1.How and why did Enoch violate the covenants of the “900 Club” and depart the planet at the very young age of 365 years (or in our strange and twisted logic) at the youthful figure of a mere 43,800 Earth years?

2.What’s all this about a flood, a Deluge? Does this really wash, or is it another of those very weird ideas of something other than an ARK/BOAT?

3.Were there really chimeras in the family tree of all of us? Are there still among us relatives with the buttocks of an equestrian stud? Does this have anything to do with being anal retentive???

4.What really happened to Cain and his descendants? Did Jabal, Jubal, and Tubal go into their respective trades after talking to a career counselor? Did they ever amount to anything, do something useful with their skills? I mean, how much can you hope for someone with the name, Tubal-Cain?

5.Who in the world were the Lemurians?

For these and other exciting questions, possibilities, and weird ramblings, tune in again when we will discover fascinating new secrets of our Earthly origins, fascinating tidbits about the zodiacal ages of man, the mysterious beginnings of civilization in Mesoamerica, and what Ptah, Shu, Geb, and Maat all have in common.

Re: Calling all Iconoclasts... Enter. The Truth of Our Origins.
Yeah, I think so, church dogma today rarely teaches the esoteric and symbolic means which are plainly laced within much of the text of the Bible. They instead focus on the literal interpretations, which may also be valid in some cases, but by doing this we lose much of the meaning that was meant to be conveyed to us in the Bible. I think originally the people who wrote the text, and the early priests understood these meanings and perhaps even took them for granted, which why we see so much confussion around the meanings of biblical passages today...

Settle4It - You are so right about the things they would see!

I have a personal story about myself for both you and Saddletramp that I think you may relate to.

I'm went to a small Catholic University here in Texas and it was the best choice I *ever* made. The Priests and Professors I had were a godsend. There were several that changed my perceptions of the Universe, the Divine, and Humanity, but there is one Priest in particular who changed my life forever.

He was a short, stocky, and fiery little man who came here from Indonesia. His name was Father Peter Phan. I'll never forget the first day of class as he strode in, books in hand and announced, "My name is Dr. Peter Phan. Not Peter Pan, but Phan - P H A N - Phan! I am not here to teach you religion. I am here to show you the Christian Bible as a Literary work - not a literal work. I am here to teach you to think and challenge you to rethink every thing you've arrogantly accepted as Truth. If you have a problem with this, then please leave now."

I was like...alllll righty, then!

Over the course of the first few weeks, I wanted to strangle the man. I was a fundamentalist, bible thumping, infallible word of God believer and he was ruffling every feather I had including the down! One day, I met with him after class in his office for a show down. He was a Priest, after all, and to hear him rip apart my foundations was more than I could stand. So I pridefully strode into his office and accused him of being a wolf in sheep's clothing; a man of the cloth who obviously had no allegiance to what that cloth represented nor the God he claimed to believe in. He smiled at me, calmly took off his glasses and started cleaning them and said, "Ah! You seek understanding! This is good." Being the arrogant little know-it-all arse I was at the time, I told him I knew everything I needed to know. Everything was right there contained in the pages of the Bible. Again he smiled as he looked up at me and there was such playful joy in his eyes that at the time I felt insulted.

He offered me a seat and asked me just how much did I know about God. I spewed out the memorized dogma I had been taught and he stopped me and repeated, "How much do you KNOW about God." I didn't understand the question and fell silent. He said, "Ah. Progress. Now that you are quiet perhaps you aren't as hopeless a case as I thought when you came in. Meet me here tomorrow after class and I will show you the wonders of the Universe."

Over the next few months, he yanked my carpet of self-righteous arrogance right out from under me an landed me smack on my ass. I studied the history of man's earliest attempts to understand who or what controlled the universe. The Enuma E'lish, Epic of Gilgamesh, Teachings of the Buddha, Hinduism, and countless others. I saw the universal and timeless concepts of spirituality leap from the pages and I realized that I knew nothing. Absolutely nothing about the Divine, myself, my fellow man - nothing. I became a clean slate with no foundations, no beliefs other than I believed in a Divine Creator who was a loving Father and Mother. It was only then that I began my quest for understanding, knowledge, and truth. Only then that I truly began to realize just how timeless Man's quest for understanding was, and that just like them I might never touch the face of God in my lifetime, but the goal was not as important as the journey.

Father Phan gave me the greatest gift I've ever been given - the gift of humility and the courage to admit that I knew nothing. By teaching me the Bible as a Literary work and not a literal work showed me that it is the key to understanding the many lessons those pages can teach us. The many genres of literature contained in those pages is a literal plethora of teachings on over coming the Human condition if one is willing to learn. I just wonder what other treasures are contained in those writings that were not included during its compilation at the Council of Nicaea.

And the Lord God said, Behold, the man is become as one of us, to know good and evil, and now, lest he put forth his hand and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live for ever;

Which sort of begs the question: is the tree of life actually our DNA?

What if the "visitors" who did the genetic engineering and created us used a female ape as an incubator and a "visitor's" genetically engineered sperm? That coincides with all DNA traced back to a single female and why the male chromosome is so different from the female chromosome. One is off world, the other indigenous. What if the genetic engineering consisted of many trials and errors until they were satisfied and pronounced us "done"?

Re: Calling all Iconoclasts... Enter. The Truth of Our Origins.
There are, however, despite the honest endeavor to answer all of the questions first replied...additional questions arose...

1...What happened some 40,000 to 35,000 years ago to account for the demise of the Neanderthals and the unchallenged ascendency of the Cro-Magnons?...Were the Neanderthals part of a factory recall?...Is there any possibility of another recall in our own immediate future?

2...Will/Did the black haired humans enjoy their sojourn in E.DIN?...Will they pine away for the mines back home in Swaziland?...Will they find farming and the glories of dressing and keeping E.DIN to their taste?...Will they freely eat of every tree of the garden, save one?...Will they get their forest merit badge?

3...Will god find out that his newly acquired advanced models of Homo sapiens sapiens, have the ability to create little sapiens of their own?...Can god possibly miss the fact that there are all these little sapiens running about?...Will god insist on being called their Godfather?...

4...Will our creator god get into trouble for his creativity creating creative creatures such as man and woman?...Will big daddy god ground him?...Will god have a cat?...Will the female get blamed for everything?...

5...Why is it Man and Woman can eat of every tree of the garden save two, “the tree of life and the tree of knowledge of good and evil”?...Why are the trees with the most intriguing names, off-limits to the gardeners who are maintaining them?...And why is it, immediately after mentioning for the first time these wondrous trees, that the Book of Genesis then launches off into a discussion of rivers and the fact that “thar’s gold in them thar hills!”?...Is there a connection here?...Or are we barking up the wrong trees?...

6...Why was gold so important to the gods?...Could mankind similarly benefit by wise use of the gold?...Are the gods likely to share it with us?...

7...And in looking ahead to the next exciting Episode, who in the world are the Nefilim of Genesis 6: 4?...Giants!?...What about the Yankees?...Don’t they deserve some mention as well?...What in the world am I talking about!?

8...Will there be no end to these questions?

For the answers to these and other exciting possibilities, stay tuned for the next thrill-packed Episode...Rest assured that if you thought the above was intriguing, the next Episodes will be even more astounding!...To paraphrase John Paul Jones, “We have not yet begun to rattle the cages of outrageous fortune!”

Re: Calling all Iconoclasts... Enter. The Truth of Our Origins.
Back to the paranoid being who was worried about man putting forth his hand and then to “take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live for ever.”

Eat of the tree of life and live forever!?...Man?...This is in the cards?...There is the possibility that Man, or his ancestors, might come upon a Tree of Life, growing in the wild, eat of its fruit, and live forever?...Really!?...How very interesting!

But as John Paul Jones was reported to have said, “We have not yet begun to speculate!” [Okay, it's a different John Paul!]

Note, for example, the fact that the first mention of the Tree of Life is in Genesis 2: 9. Immediately following this is the announcement that “Thar’s gold in them thar hills”. Does this juxtaposition of the Tree of Life, gold, and the rivers in which to pan for gold have some esoteric meaning?...

Well, of course, it does!...Why else would I have mentioned it!?...The only problem is... I don’t think you’re quite ready for this one. Perhaps in a few hundred thousand years.

Meanwhile, back at the closing of the local homeless shelter...we find Adam and Eve being summarily thrown out of the only home they had ever known -- a tear jerker worthy of the Nightly News. Imagine it, if you will...

Adam and Eve (their last names being withheld pending notification of their next of kin) were summarily ejected today from their garden homestead by their landlord god. Their home, located just East of Eden, had been in their family for some 50,000 to 100,000 years.

The landlord god, a nefarious character if there ever was one, contends that the expulsion was done because the couple had eaten of the fruit of the tree of knowledge of good and evil. The couple countered that they had merely wanted to improve their educational status, and with continuing education classes still some 200,000 years in the future, it was their only way to gain wisdom.

EDITORIAL COMMENT: This is a true travesty of justice. It is truly disheartening to see a young couple, just starting out in the first few thousand years of their life and trying to educate themselves while simultaneously raising Cain (their first-born son), to have to go through what is -- to all extents and purposes -- a pure case of entrapment.

Imagine, if you will, that you were to leave home for a period of time, and leave your two young children alone. You tell them, before you go, that they can do anything in the house that they want, with the single, solitary exception that they must not look in the refrigerator! They can go anywhere, do anything, play whatever game they like... BUT they must not look in the refrigerator. Now. Guess what the kids do the moment you are out of the house!?

But let’s assume that your kids are exceptionally well-behaved, and resist the overwhelming temptation to look in the refrigerator (else why would you have been so adamant about not looking?). However, as landlord, you also allow a devious fellow to enter your home, a fellow who urges and cajoles your children to look in the refrigerator. Then, when you come home and discover the fact that your kids have been in the fridge, you toss them out of the house and forbid them ever to return!

Does this strike you as a slight case of overkill, of possible entrapment in allowing the devious fellow in your home? If you’re the omnipotent being you like to pretend to be, how did this snake-in-the-grass get inside your home in the first place? For that matter, why did you leave your children alone?

Why did you add insult to injury by making the refrigerator sound like such an intriguing idea? What exactly is so blasted important about what you’ve got in the refrigerator anyway!? And then you throw them out!? Banish them forever!? This is despicable! Outrageous! A clear violation of civil and uncivil rights, a blatant case of entrapment, a despicable miscarriage of justice, and a gross violation of the covenant of garden landlords and tenant rights.

Unless, of course, there’s something going on we don’t know about...
