Levee breached in South Plaquemines

previous disaster should have been the end of the city and the dumb levee system, levelled it all rebuilt else where.

I haven't found any news links yet, it was reported on live television. Plenty of tweets but those are only as good as the tweeter, right?

It appears they were well aware this was a possibility. Let's hope the people there heeded the warnings.

It's a category 1 and has made landfall. Once on land, hurricances lose strength.

A lot of people on the weather channels facebook page said that they were gonna ride it out in New orleans :/

Now Mike Bettes of The Weather Channel is tweeting that it may only be overtopping. Let's hope that's all it is.

WC just said some water is "overtop", not the same thing as a breach.

National Weather Service is reporting overtopping, not a breach, from Braithwaite to White Ditch.

IN ADDITION...EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT OFFICIALS IN PLAQUEMINES PARISH
REPORTED OVERTOPPING OF A LEVEE ON THE EAST BANK FROM BRAITHWAITE
