Study: PPL Merge Supernatural & Scientific Beliefs When Reasoning W/ the Unknown,
ScienceDaily (Aug. 30, 2012) — Reliance on supernatural explanations for major life events, such as death and illness, often increases rather than declines with age, according to a new psychology study from The University of Texas at Austin.

The study, published in the June issue of Child Development, offers new insight into developmental learning.

"As children assimilate cultural concepts into their intuitive belief systems -- from God to atoms to evolution -- they engage in coexistence thinking," said Cristine Legare, assistant professor of psychology and lead author of the study. "When they merge supernatural and scientific explanations, they integrate them in a variety of predictable and universal ways."

1. duh. GLP is proof of this lol

I am a coexistance thinker. I was raised in a household with an agnostic (atheist leaning) father, and a mother who was a devout Lutheran.

I converted in college to Eastern Orthodoxy. Only one in my family. Well...I was until my younger sister converted to it as well.

I always say that my mind is the perfect amalgamation between my mothers spirituality and faith, and my father's love of science and healthy skepticism.

I have always seen sprituality and science in perfect harmony with one another. And I don't believe I could exist happily without either of them. My beliefs are still a work in progress, as I am sure most of yours are. And I see coexistance thinking as a positive thing as long as it occurs as a result of careful reflection and research.

It's no measure of health to be well adjusted to a profoundly sick society.

There is a sign in Munich that says, "Heisenberg might have slept here."

I am old enough to be living in the future I was warned about.
