Quoting: Bowyn Aerrow If someone is uncertain about a fact, then its an intellectual thing right? But if someone is uncertain about their emotions its emotional? Are these two different forms of uncertainty or are they the same? If the same does that mean uncertainty is an emotional response? If no, then what is it? I randomly don't know... |

Are these two different forms of uncertainty or are they the same? If the same does that mean uncertainty is an emotional response? If no, then what is it? You seem uncertain about uncertainty :-). Is it intellectual or some sort of emotion? My take on it is, both, depend on the personality make up of the person whether intellectually oriented or emotionally oriented. For intellectually oriented person, uncertainty is an intellectual judgement where facts are not yet known. It produces an emotion called doubt. For the intellectually oriented, uncertain about emotions is still uncertain about facts regarding the emotions. But for most people who are not intellectually prone, being certain or uncertain could be closely related to the belief system they are holding as truth. Religious believers are very certain about their version of Gods. This is what we called faith or rather blind faith if it is without facts backing it up. It is the belief system that's shaping up the feeling of certainty in religious believers. There is also a feeling of certainty without knowing the facts where after the facts, is proven true. This is what they called intuition. It is a kind of inner knowing without intellectual knowing/facts. |

It appears that unlike logic, uncertainty (and its counterpart certainty) are both intellectual and emotional. Thank you for your sharing on the subject.
