One major source of sewage is factories along the banks of the river, which often discharge untreated waste directly into the river. Statistics from the Ministry of Environmental Protection show that some 10,000 chemical plants, about half of the nation's total amount, are located along the banks of the Yangtze. In addition, huge amount of household sewage from the cities along its banks have been discharged into the river with little or no treatment, forming an evident belt of pollution. The belt is 50-100 meters wide in the middle section of the river and up to 170 meters wide in the downstream section. Moreover, 13 large freshwater lakes spanning 100 square kilometers in the mid- and downstream sections of the Yangtze have suffered serious eutrophication due to climatic factors or human activities. As a result, large amounts of algae proliferate in the lakes, damaging their ecological balance and leading to serious water pollution." ---ALSO--- (2-24-2012) Internet rumors of Yangtze phenol spill proved correct [link to www.wantchinatimes.com] "The Zhenjiang authorities said they did not reveal their findings immediately due to concern that the captain of the Gloria might obstruct their investigation should he come to know that his ship was the target of a pollution probe. Time Weekly quoted Wang Lin, a maritime official in the provincial capital Nanjing, as saying that the stretch of the Yangtze in Jiangsu province is lined with chemical factories, which pose a great threat to river and marine life, as well as the health of the people in cities along the river. He added that there is no way to clean the water, except to wait for the river to clean itself." ... Clues... Thanks for the links! ... Wonder how long it will take if it ever decides to "clean itself" if it ever returns to it's original color.. Hmmm GAL |

Quoting: PolarPrecursor Many explanations...nothing extraordinary here folks...move along. Yeah, algae bloom and iron are the two players that cause this phenomenon. When I was a kid skiing in VT, and remember red sunken 'cups' in the snow while going up on a ski lift. The red color was 'off' red subtley I knew even at the age of 10 it wasn't blood. |

Can a dead man give himself new life.. can a blind man give himself sight? No.. we do not choose..We are chosen.. we do not choose..predestinated from the foundations of the world. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 23447521 Eph 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Eph 2:9 Not of works, lest any man should boast. 1Pe_2:9 But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light: That's the key. It's happening in diverse places and none have ever been explained or followed up on. Even the freaking oil spill in the gulf turned red! To you both ...that's right...AMEN! GAL |

Only doombent religitards can come up with some of the replies here.. its funny. You guys should hold a tally. Claims of impending doom vs. reality After a while it will become clear to even the most hardcore religinuts that their predictions fail at a 100% rate. As expected Run chicken, run! |
