Out of Control - Houston officer kills double amputee in wheelchair

Silva identified the officer as Matthew Jacob Marin, a five-year veteran of the department. He was immediately placed on three-day administrative leave, which is standard in all shootings involving officers.

Houston police records indicate that Marin also fatally shot a suspect in 2009. Investigators at the time said Marin came upon a man stabbing his neighbor to death at an apartment complex and opened fired when the suspect refused to drop the knife.

AAhhh isn't this the second such attack on a wheelchair bound person.?? But the lady and son in earlier attack "thank goodness" turned out ok..

There is a website that collects reports of police criminality on a daily basis across the country. There are normally ten in any given day. Of course these are just the ones that make national news. Which means it's only a small percentage of the actual incidents.

Kinda makes me wonder what the heck..the cops are being told in training these days..

I met several on duty Houston cops on Wednesday -- at the airport where the Shuttle was on display here in the Houston area. They were all very polite and professional... nothing like what the label that posters on these types of threads put on all cops.

The guy in the wheelchair was stabbing his roommate to death -- that's why the cops were called out. Can't blame the cop for shooting in that situation -- he could have been next.
