Anonymous Coward User ID: 42624243 United States 07/04/2013 08:26 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Meh. Not true if you get a real degree. I went through an Engineering Program, and make like 40/hour @ 25 years old. It's worth it if you get a real skill. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1254299 The real skill is worth it. The degree - not so much. You might as well print it for the most part, other than to get in the door. Real skills worth knowing are: Promotion, sales, marketing, engineering, sciences, planning/management, mechanical trades, and above all "schmoozing", otherwise known as politicking, lobbying, whatever. For women - add using whatever sex appeal and skills they have to advance their agenda. Most of these are carefully NOT TAUGHT in college, or are doled out in such small doses as to be worthless. If you can't get a guy/girl/whatever into your life as a partner and sex partner, you'd better learn while young, or the chase will consume all your energy and take time away from other productive things. I have multiple degrees in the hard sciences and I needed NONE of them to get to millionaire status and beyond. There's no real link between college and success other than flaunting paper and making connections. If you don't know how to do these two things successfully, the degrees are just wasting time. |

Quoting: Life and Love you have no idea how many dopes with a piece of paper I have beat out for a job because I have REAL EXPERIENCE and are just that much better at what i do then they are. You're right, I don't know a thing about you. My comment is from my life experiences, not yours. I have watched dozens of qualified but non-degreed people get cut off from even interviewing because they lacked the right degrees. Not so much lacking the right degrees, but lacking in the right promotion abilities - and knowing how to weasel their way in through the back door. Seducing the girl in HR or the VP secretary is not beyond reasonable - just another way in. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 8469651 If you tards went to college you'd understand what i mean. But alas, you're too busy feeling sorry for yourself and patting yourself on the back for not taking risks. Enjoy your $11/hr. That's all you'll ever be. In the meantime, I'll enjoy my benefits, pension, salary, etc. that would not have been attainable without multiple degrees. You get out of college what you put into college. I worked my ass off. Now I can afford to pay douches like you $11/hr cause I'm clearing well over that magical $100/hr you note. I took a risk and made it. But if it makes you feel better to surround yourself with other people who will tell you how great you are for avoiding the risk of college, so be it. I'll make sure to tip you next time I pay my bill. The true measure of a man is how he treats others when he has it all.. |
