Israel says Iran Behind Drone Shot Down near Dimona Reactor. Iran says it Needs an Excuse and 24 Hours to Annihilate Israel

Israel checking: Was drone headed to Dimona?

After IDF collects remnants of unmanned aircraft shot down over southern forest, security establishment examining possibility it was launched by Hezbollah to photograph Israeli reactor; army fears drones will be used to hit strategic sites

Of all the hostile elements seeking to harm Israeli national security, only two have the capability, track record and motivation to send drones into Israeli airspace: Iran and its Shi’ite proxy Hezbollah.

Ten days ago Iran showcased a new long-range drone it said could fly to Israel and carry out reconnaissance or bombing missions.

The drone, called Shahed-129, was proudly unveiled by the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps at the end of September.

It reportedly has a range of 2,000 kilometers and was likely presented as part of Iran’s attempt to reply to Israel’s fleet of massive Heron drones.

If Tehran wanted to send a drone toward Israel, however, it would not have to launch one from its own territory. It has already set up a military base in southern Lebanon in the form of Hezbollah.

In September, Hezbollah chief Hassan Nasrallah said his organization could bomb the Dimona nuclear reactor in southern Israel.

And last week The New York Times cited classified Pentagon data as indicating that Iran had practiced bombing runs on Dimona and Haifa.

Re: Israel says Iran Behind Drone Shot Down near Dimona Reactor. Iran says it Needs an Excuse and 24 Hours to Annihilate Israel
Israeli intelligence and air force waged a cyber battle Saturday, Oct. 6 with unidentified parties, most likely Hizballah or Iran, who sent a satellite-guided unmanned helicopter into Israeli air space through the Mediterranean.

Military sources report exclusively that for 30 minutes, as the helicopter flew over southern Israel, control swung back and forth between Israeli cyber operators and unknown agents.

The battle was finally resolved by an Israel decision to scramble four F-16 fighters to shoot the trespasser down, the while Israeli cyber experts tried to identify its satellite controller.

Defense Minister Ehud Barak released a statement saying that Israel takes a very grave view of the incursion and will weigh its response.

UAV Fragments Similar to Iranian Drones

The defense establishment has been looking at the fragments of the UAV, which fell in the area of southern Mount Hevron.

According to reports, Israel initially suspected that it was launched from Sinai, but by Saturday evening, military sources said the military investigation showed the UAV had flown southward along Israel's Mediterranean coast before turning east over Gaza and heading into Israeli airspace. It is believed to have been launched from Lebanon.

If this becomes the final conclusion of the investigation, the apparent culprit behind the launch would be Hizbullah. The drone could have been collecting and transmitting information on possible targets for a missile hit by Hizbullah, Iran, or both.

The initial investigation indicated that the UAV is similar to UAVs used by Iran.

Hizbullah uses both Iranian-made and Russian-made UAVs.

Hopefully in the next war, it's blown up and Israel become a radioactive wasteland for the next thousand years so we never hear about that shithole ever again.

The Israeli military says troops shot down a drone that penetrated the country's airspace in the south.

A military spokesman says the drone was shot down Saturday morning. He would not say where it originated.

Israel radio reported that it appeared to be an intelligence gathering drone. The report says the military knew the drone was nearing Israel and decided to wait to shoot it down over Israeli airspace.

sounds feasible....maybe Iran got that one flying that we softly landed there last year! I would say on a complexity level...building drones from a model is far easier than building a nuke...and they can do the latter!

Re: Israel says Iran Behind Drone Shot Down near Dimona Reactor. Iran says it Needs an Excuse and 24 Hours to Annihilate Israel
The subject of the section of the Prophets read on this Shabbat describes the war of Gog and Magog that will precede the Final Redemption (Ezekiel 38:18-39:16). Its connection to the holiday of Sukkot is that according to tradition the war will take place during the month of Tishrei, the month when the holiday of Sukkot falls. The prophet describes Gog's war against Israel and G-d's furious response. G-d will send an earthquake, pestilence, great floods and hailstones and fire--utterly destroying Gog's armies.

"And I will reveal Myself in My greatness and in My holiness and will be recognized in the eyes of many nations, and they will know that I am the Lord. . . . I will make known My Holy Name in the midst of My people Israel, and I will no longer cause My Holy Name to be profaned, and the nations will know that I, the Lord, am holy in Israel."

The prophets describe a final war—the war of Gog and Magog—that will take place immediately before the messianic redemption. After this war, the world will forever recognize and embrace the truth of G‑d.

The Hebrew word Gog means “roof.” It alludes to the sense of protection and security we get from physical things. As the world approaches its ultimate destiny, humankind must undergo a transformation in its consciousness. Part of this transformation involves the awareness that our security and protection come not from physical possessions, but from G‑d.

The sukkah makes us vulnerable. But, paradoxically, this vulnerability is our greatest power. We were vulnerable when we began our journey out of exile, and we will be vulnerable when we conclude it. But far from making us weak, this vulnerability allows to embrace our unlimited source and unique destiny. In letting go of our dependence on the physical, on the “roof,” we embrace our own true nature. We are partners in creation, divine beings made in the image of G‑d.

The prophets tell us that at the end of days, the Jewish nation will be threatened by powerful hostile forces. This threat will be so great that our human strength will not be enough to overcome it.

At that point, the prophets say, we will at long last abandon the core illusions of creation. The elusive security of physical things will lose its power to deceive us. We will remember the truth. We will turn to G‑d wholeheartedly, and in doing so, will allow the divinity concealed within creation and within ourselves to shine forth in its full brightness. We will elicit the divine revelation and protection that is our destiny.

Lebanese general: Downed drone was American

"The Palestinians don't have such a sophisticated aircraft. It may have come from Egypt, however, since it flew in from the sea, I believe it came from an American aircraft carrier and was accidently downed," said former Lebanese General Hisham Jaber a few hours after Israel shot down an unmanned aircraft that violated its aircraft.

[link to www.ynetnews.com]

No way it was accidentally downed. If the Lebanese official has information that the drone was American, it came from Egypt. Pictures released of the drone by Israel were partially censored.
