Thank you Mama. Like anything, it will probably hurt the ones who really need it, without affecting the scammers.

The same bill is saying that many children may be cut off from school lunches. In the past, I've read that it's the best, or even only, meal that some children get. Wouldn't want to be in those parents shoes.

The CBO reported July 5 that 2 million to 3 million people would lose food stamps benefits and about 300,000 children would no longer be eligible for free school lunches if the House bill becomes law. The New York Times reports that about 45 million Americans receive food stamps.

The Senate proposes a cut of $4.5 billion from food programs, a number Vilsack is more comfortable with. King thinks deeper cuts could be made without hurting those in need.
