Guess you should have been smarter. More prepared. Survival of the fittest. Probably drank and gambled your money away while refusing to work for an honest dollar. Same old story with the poor. Lazy and stupid. We don't need them so die off. |

(OP) User ID: 23438707 United States 11/12/2012 03:56 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I live in Ohio. I work at a grocery store. We are lucky, my husband has a good job. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 13076957 Young people like 18-early 20's are using food stamps. WTF? Really? Jobs are hard to find, and not at the pay you wanted but you can deal with it. Stop buying energy drinks, Sarbucks canned drinks and pop. I know times are different. But how much financial responsibility do you have when your 18? There have been times in my life when I have had 3 jobs to make ends meet. Pay your bills, then make sure you have gas money and what is left is money for food. I really, really do not like paying for someones food (via tax dollars) who has not paid into the system. In the same regard, if you have fallen on hard times, that's what it is there for. I have seen parents come through the line and squeak out as much value as they could get when using food stamps. These are people whom either are just barly are working or are out of a job. I don't mind giving people a hand with my tax dollars, but I really can't stand giving hand outs. I really wish Ohio would leave the elderly alone. They have worked all of their lives and paid into a system all that was supposed to take care of them. I have no illusions that it will be there for me. You make good points. It does seem that the most vulnerable will be the target. -------------------------- "They are going to increase hunger among our most vulnerable -- working families, seniors, children, and persons with disabilities," said Lisa Hamler-Fugitt, executive director of the Ohio Association of Foodbanks. Some seniors or people with disabilities who have a low benefit amount could lose all their monthly assistance, she said. [link to www.the-review.com] |

For anyone younger than that but over 50 review them. Cut them off for anyone younger than 50. I'm sick of subsidizing a young and healthy Free Shit Army. And to all the Ohio dumbasses who voted for Obama - Hah hah. |

The fools in OH who voted for him did so with ONE purpose. The freebies! Now look whats happening. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 27589394 Tip of the iceberg.... but I question why this is not being 'means tested' -- not only for assets but for ability. There are many elderly with no assets and no ability to generate additional income. Don't want to see them suffer... Food banks, churches and other organizations are really going to have to ramp-up over the next few years, as these cut-backs start to pick up steam. We have a local lady who my wife talks to just about everday... she walks our neighborhood. A few weeks ago, she asked my wife if she could borrow a cup of rice -- turns out she had not eaten in a week. What pisses me off about this... her son, is a deputy (almost wanted to say what county... in TEXAS). Why would he let his mother go hungry? We got her through to the end of the month and are trying to get her to go to a food bank and get other assistance -- she is too embarrassed at this point to go (and I hope she does, I have too many people - not immediate family - counting on me now for money, food, college, healthcare, etc.. - and I am tired of being broke.) She had a toilet to shit in -- but no toilet paper. The day I don't have a solid roll of toilet paper is the day I go postal... Around here the food banks are giving much less food per person than in the past. They are practically begging for donations.Donations are way down because a lot of people cant give on the scale they did in the past or at all while a lot more are needing assistance in recent months. In the past they would give a weeks worth of food now its 3 days in some of the food pantries and churches. |

I see first hand how all these ppl sell their money from their food stamp card for cash to buy cigs, alcohol, drugs. ..its so shameful!! THE BIBLE SAYS IF YOU DON'T WORK... YOU DONT EAT!!! More than half if these young, healthy ppl do NOT NEED to b sucking the system dry that they REFUSE TO PAY INTO!!... AND...They need to piss test them too!! Heroin and Meth are BEYOND EPIDEMIC PROPORTIONS HERE!! We aren't even talking Dayton or Drexel...This is out in the middle of nowhere and the drugs are rampant and they sell their foodstamps to get them. I cant stand these individuals that just refuse to work...and the system just hands it over left and right! Enough is enough! |
