Israel main problem in Middle East: Analyst

A political analyst tells Press TV that the recent Israeli attacks on Gaza have made the Arab world realize that the enemy and the one massacring Palestinians is really Israel.

Press TV has conducted an interview with Kamel Wazne, political analyst, to further discuss the issue. What follows is an approximate transcription of the interview.

Press TV: If I were to ask an important question here I think the fact that Tel Aviv was hit by missiles and the sheer power that the Gaza Strip has shown versus Israel, give us your snap analysis on that.

Wazne: Well obviously this is a different picture for the whole region. The Israelis for very long time they assumed they fought their wars in their enemy’s land. They never thought they would fight their wars in their own Palestinian occupied land. I think for a long time the Israelis, they thought they could occupy and concur and destroy other Arab countries. Today the picture has changed, the Israelis feel that they made a mistake by coming probably to this land and occupying this land because for very long time they felt safe.

I think there will be major consequences for this in terms of economic implication or safety implication or strategic implication for all those people, all these Jewish immigrants who came and occupied Palestine.

This is my understanding, the Jewish society is a mobile society that means when they feel their business has been threatened as they came to Palestine and occupied Palestine the business end of it, they start to mobilize and get out and this is I think the beginning of solving the solution, having all these people who came from Europe and from Russia and from the United States, the Israelis who came and Jews who had came and occupied Palestine, they should go back where they come from.

I think the Palestinians show a lot of resilience, a lot of determination and will to fight unbalanced war considering that Gaza under siege since 2008 they have been able to prepare themselves, arm themselves, train themselves and to be very exact on the mark in their targets where they actually for the first time Tel Aviv is under attack from the Palestinian.

Today I think in the political end the Americans always talk about the Arab Spring. Well, don’t the Palestinians deserve an Arab Spring and they should have a home in their own land, they should not be under siege and under control by the Israelis from every corner of their own land.

I think today is a test for the whole region, the Israelis knew it the picture has changed drastically and the American knew it and I think the Israelis got themselves in a big hole.

Whatever the outcome of the operation, Israeli operation is going to be very counterproductive, politically, economically and public image for the Israeli and for Netanyahu because Netanyahu launched this operation to actually smooth his image after that campaign against Obama in the American election. This is going to backfire and it is not going to backfire on the Prime Minister but on the existence of these forces who occupied Palestine.

Press TV: Well when we want to take a look at the ramifications that this does have for Israel it was said that because of these elections that Netanyahu did this but at this point after Tel Aviv being hit a number of times and after Netanyahu crawled into a bunker for hiding I would think that this is backfiring on him combined with the fact that to begin with, prior to this there is public dissatisfaction inside Israel against them.

You mentioned about this so-called Arab Spring of which Israel maybe going through one of its own there. So it does not make sense why Netanyahu did decide to go ahead with this, so what we are going to see in that regards, the political fallout for Netanyahu?

Wazne: Well it is still early in the operation against the Palestinian but I think this puts the picture back in the Arab world that the enemy it is really Israel and the one who is massacring the Palestinians are the Israelis and all that friction that actually supported by the American when it comes to the interest of Israel, Israel always side with the Israelis.

We noticed how Hillary Clinton gathered those people in Qatar and they established what they call the opposition to topple the regime in Syria and they talk about democracy. Well here what Mrs. Clinton and Obama administration can do about the plight of the Palestinian people? This is where it comes a test for all these Islamic powers who came and became Prime Minister and President and the Foreign Minister and Defense Minister from Egypt, to Tunisia, to Libya and they have different point of view on what is taking place in the region.

Now they have to say we are with the Palestinian and it is not enough to say we are with the Palestinian, what we can do to protect that child that you see on TV that being injured by Israeli missiles and by weapons that is supplied by the United States? Justice has to come and to prevail and those Muslim world cannot stand idle and continue being ushered by the United States and by Mr. Obama.

Now for the Qataris for a long time they have been trying to divide the Muslim world and to buy some in the Muslim world but today the question, what can you do about the plight of the Palestinian?

Same thing for the President of Egypt. So far the reaction has been very slow, ceremonial but I think the Egyptian people will rise to defend the Palestinian, the sentiment is rising within Egypt, the people wanted if you ask the Egyptian people today they probably 90 percent wanted to fight the Israeli. I think the balance of the region has come to the focal point and the focal point is Israel is the problem in the Middle East and that problem has to be addressed.

The death and killing by the Israelis and the destruction we have witnessed that and seen that in 2006 against Lebanon it only enforces the resilient of the people during that war.

We had streets being demolished, cities in the suburb of Beirut have been demolished but eventually the moral of the people were very high and the determination very high and they stood with their leadership and I think that is what is going to happen, we are going to see a lot of deaths and destruction but the people of Gaza and the Palestinian people will come out prevailing and on the other side on the Israeli it is going to be a very big problem for them and for their image in the world.

They are not safe any longer, their Prime Minister cannot save him and their weapons that is imported from the United States cannot buy him a safety. The only safety they can have is to buy a ticket and to go back where they come from.
