A lake AND pine trees! There isn't one close enough to go there and back in a day. I was just dreaming about a place like that yesterday. I'm so glad you're in such a nice place!

I have it all here ... dollar-store shopping, eateries 2-5 miles away, big grocery stores and WallyWorld, and a free dispersed campsite a few miles to the NE..

And only ONE BOAT out on the lake at the moment..

I'm tempted to go swimming (is the lake water still cold?) but that would interupt my Jukebox sesh...

Oh, well... compromises, compromises...

I hear you Grey Eagle <3. Too much paperwork bullshit & regulations heaped onto folk & done incrementally over a very long time brought into being by people that were meant to safeguard & follow the values & principles on which your country was founded.

It's because people here today are far more SELF-SERVING and SELF-MINDED than freedom-theology-minded folks were back in the day.

John F Kennedy comes to mind in that noble regard (as a visionary real American)...

Too many NIMBYs and city-dwelling Sierra Club Control Freaks now, creating ever-more bureaucracies and regulation and statutes...

Maybe America ... in attracting so many people to its shores that it ultimately created a heavy backlash-dosage of protectionism, finally ruining the once wide-open landscape and lifestyle...
