Someone gave me a chess set a long time ago. A piece went missing. I've searched for one like it for ten years.

Today, I looked at the set to see if a little pagoda figurine was similar enough. It was in there! However, a different piece was missing. A white pawn is gone, but the black rook is there!

Much more so db, hoppier than a bunny on a trampoline.

hahaha I used to find little arrows/spears around my home. I moved, I found them in my new house after a few months. I have an army of faeryfolk.

Your happening with the chess pieces disappearing reminded me of a short story I read about a chess player who had a rivalry with another player who was better than him so he murdered him.
The murdered chess rival ghost always turned up to any game the chess player played & took control of whoever he was playing against so that the guy could never win a game of chess ever.
It might have been a Twilight Zone episode though instead of a book.
