Re: GLP-Jukebox
Nobody originates them, we simply tap into the part of the existential condition of being that is greater than ourselves, and then appropriate the insight to our purposes, crowning ourselves as somehow more than the sum of our parts... A lot of the best songs, for example, I think would have existed independently of the artists that created them. The best that an artist hope for is to filter a universal idea or principle through their own unique fuck-up-edness as human beings. The pure white light filtered through an impure something... I think statistically the likelihood that we originated our own thoughts is rather small. Our minds are the product of experience, and the ideas laid down from sources we, ultimately, likely can't even know about. One of the least, and yet, paradoxically, comforting aspects of the collective unconscious as you described it is that none of us can ever understand it. The ones who do are in madhouses.

I've been reading about epigenetics lately and find it fascinating, but also the links we have with our microbial biomes and what we 'learn' from them, for example the iron content of certain bacteria aligning with the magnetic fields of the planet we live on and helping birds to 'know' which way to fly when they migrate. There are so many incredible things we have yet to discover..or maybe the ancient civilizations did and lost them...or maybe we are really supposed to just 'be' and not discover because humans aren't capable of only using the power of knowledge for good (mainly due to greed) or maybe some of them are? sigh, so much to think about and so little time

Beautiful song. Will have to finish listening later. It was the MUSIC that I had to step away from, until there was music in my heart again. I could almost cry. It feels so good to be back with my friends and the JB.

Our dear Fraust introduced this band a few nights ago..someone, Sir Tim maybe? was already familiar with them. They are lovely and soothing.

All good here. Chickens are almost done molting. Expecting the first snow on Friday. We've got our firewood laid in and I've got plenty of yarn for knitting, so we'll get through winter. I'm actually hoping for a little down time.
cheers

We've definitely been swindled.

Previous civilizations have existed and, through disaster or malice, experienced unceremonious carnage - been wiped off the map. Once upon a time we knew things that would cause our present day eyeballs to melt. At the same time, it is impossible to ignore that our humanness itself IS and exercise in finitude/futility. The perfect civilization must, of necessity, exist in a degree of appalling ignorance. Whatever we see around us is, through the necessity of how the world works, destined for destitutions and decay.
