I used to work in Grayslake for a few years and even went to college there... I preferred Gages Lake or Lake Villa or Lake Geneva or the Chain of Lakes or Ill State Beach, though. You went to Phil's Beach ... wow ... small small world! I mostly worked as a lifeguard summers so swam in pools, but one summer I had a job as a nanny in Lake Geneva and spent a lot of time at the beach there. My job was to take the kids to the country club for swim lessons, then the beach til lunch time, then home for naps and another swim off their pier before dinner. Rough life. Summers there were awesome. My folks live nearby now and my nephew is a bartender at one of the resorts. Latvia has talked about that too. When I taught swimming lessons we taught a similar technique called 'survival float'. One summer I had this bratty kid who would not try anything in swim lessons and I got in the super cold pool to demonstrate and said 'See, this is easy' and she goes 'Easy for you. Fat floats.' troll level master I wasn't even fat then. "Violence simply is not radical enough, since it generally changes only the rulers but not the rules. I went off the top one on a dare and was terrified my bathing suit wouldn't stay on. lol We had ALOT of small ponds around where I lived so those lakes were cool, but the local neighbor's ponds were all within walking distance from our home. To get to a lake you had to have mom or grandma go drive you there or you had to ride your bicycle there on some hot July morning in that muggy heat. My grandparents were only 250 yds away from a 1 mile wide lake though, so that was next over from Grayslake and Fourth Lake. The best thing about growing up there were all the free shit places to hang out at all day: woods, ponds/lakes, baseball fields, treehouses, friends' houses/basements, school playgrounds and football fields, parks and picnic areas, etc.. About dining out Frausty - it was mobbed everywhere and over an hour wait for a table anywhere, but fun! How are things going in Belfast, can you see normal days ahead? Quoting: ~Sloane~ Its all quiet where I am at the moment thankfully dear ~Sloane~ <3. Glad to hear that you had a fun night out. It seems like a lot of folks had the same idea as you & were looking for a good night out on the tiles after so long being cooped up hence the crowds. Running towards the weekend. |

User ID: 72805718 United States 04/11/2021 09:47 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | It's Saturday or Sunday afternoon ... you're getting the ice chest out of the trunk or back seat of the car/Camaro/Mustang/Chevelle/Cougar and it's already up to 98F in the muggy shade.. Hope that ice hasn't melted ... which is keeping the beer all cold for a few hours at least.. The Lake (Michigan) looks like the freakin ocean out there, all blue and a little hazy with a few sailboats sailing by.. Somebody in the parking lot there has this playing on the 6x9s of their 300W stereo as the frisbees fly and the weed-smoke permeates the pkg lot... Thank God it's Summer now, right? :fireplace: "Remember when we used to treat colds and flu with chicken soup, saltwater gargles and warm tea instead of Communism?" |
