Sadly. Not that I haven't drank most of my life (just not too excessively). RIP to all those who lost their battle with the bottle or the needle or the pills... Drinking is great, I just can never seem to moderate. I miss it sometimes. Elizabeth (can’t remember her last name) the one who wrote eat pray love did a Ted Talk Genus and artists. How they fall into pits, tormented over not producing or replicating their big hits. High critique by their fans/listeners. Impacts artists deeply. Pressure. Exactly. It has happened to ALOT. How many times have I heard of those who hit it big at a young age ... and then they feel this insane pressure (by whomever) to follow it up with something equal - if not something better ($ale$).. It's a double-edged sword ... Those who are sensitive/open enough to write tunes that resonate ... often lack the extreme thick skin required to endure the followup and the aftermath of initial success... with a shocking dry spell and its growing expectation ... Yes - previously artists maintained their stability with the knowledge music or poetry was a divine messenger downloading to an artist inspirational hits. It was more a spiritual thing as opposed to believing your the one whose had this mega hit. |

It was more a spiritual thing as opposed to believing your the one whose had this mega hit. Absolutely. Some of those great songs were not really the artist ... they were merely just the semi-fortuitous tappings into the Collective Unconscious or into the realms and library of the Collective Muse or what-have-you.. Maybe LSD furthered that wellspring of words, and chords, and somehow piecing it all together in a hit-worthy composition. The music has to come to you ... you can't really tap into it IN THE WRONG FRAME OF MIND. That can't be beneficial for great/inspired songwriting. Something has definitely CHANGED...
