Spirits Having Flown by the Bee Gees

I got this album for my 12th birthday. Ever since this has been my go to song when the world gets too much for me to handle. Even though it is a love song, it has a spiritual quality that always brings me closer to god in my darkest hours.

I played it non-stop (on repeat for hours) when my parents announced they were divorcing, when I moved to another state in high school, when my boyfriend died when I was 16, when my dad died 18 months later, after 9/11, when my husband and I were on the verge of splitting up and then a decade later when we did, when my mom died....


And this afternoon it has been on repeat several times as feelings of hopelessness wash over me as I mourn this deteriorating world.
