if things (pm prices)are controlled, then it stands to reason that those controlling things would do so for their own benefit, and since the greatest commercial interest is selling at retail and buying at wholesale mostly through various dodgy 'we buy gold' shops from which, incidentally most of which actually refuse to sell, one can assume with certainty that the efforts of control are to manipulate things to allow the professional buyers the best possible price and keep the official price as low as possible.
You can expect the last free transactions to be during a period of loudly proclaimed 'sell' recommendations and promises/prediction of large falls in value

the gold standard may return but only when they collect it all for themselves and then raise the price to inflate their holdings worth.
There is no way they will allow any noninside player to ride this bubble up long enough to buy their freedom from the bankers, you can bet confiscation will happen before any significant pm price inflation
