Obama refuses to cut, so the system must be crashed. Better a small crash now than a big huge one if we keep spending like our mad man president wants.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 24207739

The small USA crash was an option in 2000-2001.
A huge USA crash was an option in 2008.

The only option now is complete planet-wide economic implosion.

It is funny how they talk about taxing the upper echelons.

This kind of strategy never works, because the high ups don't use paychecks much. They don't want to own the money, they want to control it.

And in order to control it you don't need a paycheck. On another note, in any case, there are so many loop holes in the tax system, that they want even flinch when they up the tax rate.

In the end it will only hit the Middleman, and after that yourself.

It has always been like that.

End rant bb

Exactly correct.

Rush brought up a great point:
Why don't the Democrats ever bring up a "wealth tax"? Why is it always "income" tax? Because they are all trust fund and capital gains bastards, that's why.

Re: Geithner: 'Absolutely' willing to go off the fiscal cliff
Honestly, Republicans are also going about things in the wrong way.

Both Rs and Ds spent us into oblivion. Now, neither party can stomach facing up to the consequences and dealing with cuts and raised taxes.

Why do we need such a bloated federal government? Imagine the billions of dollars that could be saved each year by trimming the fat? That is the blame that Democrats share in this.

Republicans? They refuse to allow taxes to go up, even if it is temporary, because it offends their base. Honestly, the only way we are going to get out of this is by cutting spending by 80% along with raising taxes in the short term. Republicans would rather spill the blood of the middle class than allow a tax hike on the top 2%, shows where the real loyalty lies. Not that Democrats are any better, mind you, they spent us into this hole we are in.

You are an economic illiterate who has obviously been "educated" by CBS/ABC/NBC.

Republicans don't want to raise taxes for 2 reasons:
1) It's immoral (income taxation is theft and they know it)
2) It's counter productive (revenues go down when taxes go up)

Why anyone has any faith left in either political party is beyond me...

The democrats have become Communists, and the Republicans have become Socialists...

"Going off the cliff was the plan all along."

You have got to be believing the Magicians Delusion, the Sleight of Hand, the Smoke and Mirrors show of all time, if you think there is ANYTHING that can be done.

America is WASHED UP, the BANKERS, Psychopaths, Sociopaths, and Malignants killed it.

These parasitic types have been trying to kill it since the American Revoloution.

There has been a running battle against the parasitics since the first Pilgrims landed, and before.

The American Patriot is lost, the patriot has been asleep at the wheel, and complacancy and cowardice, delusion, and ignorance rule.

Morans need to take down the flag, put up the new Flag of Goldman-Sachs, Shell, Exxon, Monsanto, Cargill, etc...

These are your NEW masters.

Morans are the pathetic brain washed, mind controlled, genetically deviated, feral slave apes of the NEW New World.

Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner said Wednesday that the Obama administration was prepared to dive off the fiscal cliff if Republicans do not agree to raise tax rates on upper income brackets.

Geithner was asked on CNBC: "When it comes to raising taxes on the wealthy, those making more than $250,000 — if Republicans do not agree to that, is the administration prepared to go over the fiscal cliff?"

"Oh, absolutely," Geithner replied. "There's no prospect in an agreement that doesn't involve the rates going up on the top 2 percent of the wealthiest."

"The size of the problem in some sense is so large it can't be solved without rates going up," Geithner said about the country's fiscal challenges. "I think there's a broad recognition of that reality now."
