if democrats were really serious about taxing the rich to pay their fair share, then the first place to start would be tax on "wealth" and not just income. how about a 40% tax on warren buffet's wealth? now that would be a nice chuck of change wouldn't it?

then we could start with taxing federal "employees" whose combined employment package can very often be over 150,000 - 250,000 $.

and last but not least we need to tax EVERYONE in this country. 51% of the people are carrying the other half, if you want true fairness then every one should pay according to their ability. it is crap that some people pay nothing and yet they use all of the services and infrastructure as much as they rest of do.

get rid of the income tax and place a flat tax on everyone, no deductions, no loopholes, and no EXCEPTIONS.

The tax on the rich, is not really a tax on the rich at all. Even if they raised the tax rate for all of those earning $200,000 ($250,000 for couple) a year, it will only pay for a total of four days of government spending.

The other problem that Obama is refusing to inform the public is that those making the higher tax bracket are the very ones creating jobs or trying to create jobs. Taking them more is only taking more jobs away. This in turn lowers tax revenue, because there are fewer people earning a living and requiring more government money that doesn't exist. This then requires more taxes on everyone, to continue paying for the jobs that Obama's taxes are losing.

The Marxist progressive income tax is a control mechanism whereby friends of the regime can be rewarded, and its enemies crushed. As noted before, the income that income tax generates for the government amounts to pennies.

I do remember the days when Republicans and Democrats existed. They still do. Only those that would rather bury their heads in some slime pool rather than accepting the fact that they are the root of the problem. I instead of blaming others for any misfortune that comes to me, I look at the path that I took that brought the misfortune to me.

Simple example, my car got hit while parked, the person did not leave a note. Am I mad at them, nope, I parked it there (in a parking spot, with a meter, enough distance between the car behind me and the one in front), so in the end that is my fault.

You know how you and others or your ilk would have looked at it? Some welfare person, without a job, hit my car, probably didn't have insurance, nor a liscence, so the bum didn't leave a note.

Like I said, when you grow up, maybe you'll start to see things for what they are.

I've probably participated in significantly more political activities that yourself, on both sides of the table. I know people on both sides, have wrote stem cell research papers that have been used by multiple senators, have been invited to the RNC every presidental election since ninth grade. Have had tickets to multiple inagurations. In the end, I've seen first hand that it doesn't really matter, that the lobbyist are in control. So I don't begrudge either side. Instead I try to educate people to not to rely on government to fix their lives, take their life in their own hands, live within their means, and if possible, help those that want to help themselves.

I realize that but 50%+ of America does not. They are not going to move on. They believe that the rich will accept higher taxes and everything will be sunny and okay after that. The rich are going to relocate and the hard working middle class will be burdened. I know that the revenue from increasing taxes on the rich is not going to solve shit but some can't get past that. BTW- I am not even clear on the definition of the middle class anymore. What is middle class? When was the last time it was defined?

*** my husband went for a job at UPS yesterday. They are not hiring full-time workers anymore. If tax increases pass then we will be seeing full time becomes part time and people will be working 2 plus jobs to survive. This then will become the new norm.
