For the first time ever, I am truly afraid

what is it that you fear?

By reading your post it is clear that you have a strength within you that is there whenever you need it the most.
Be thou not afraid.......surely goodness and mercy will follow.....remember that you believe the lord lived and died on the cross for the forgiveness of all our sins...you included. Death and suffering are an integral part of life............my suggestion is to live today and the next today and the next as if they are your last day on the planet.......imagine how free you will be when you've done all of what you thought you should do while on this earth.

If you truly believe in god [the biblical christian god] you have nothing to fear.....because whether there is a god or not you have a belief in what it stands for and that is all that is relevant in your life, it's what inside you that makes it real and assuring.
As the meek will inherit the earth.......so too will "lunatic mothers with bats"

Stange, I've been thinking about this time for so many years now and it's finally here.

Some part of me feels ready for whatever comes, but another part of me is apprehensive.

Though it is all out of our hands in many ways.

I honestly don't think anything is going to happen. I think the anxiety you feel and everyone else feels is all the discussion about 12/21/12. There are numerous television shows and all matters of media and blogs discussing it so it's in everyone's head. The true alignment happened in 1996. It will not happen on December 12, 2012. Everything will be fine.

Where did the OP say anything about 12/21/12? Did you read or feel anything she said?

what gets me is that theres so many wo wo mes but less talk about god in thier post, yet god says not to look back and yes have fear but folks just keep your armor shield up and also no this is not the end i repeat not the end yet at when the last seven profeceis are filled then yes keep your eyes open , just please read gods word dont go by mans word god even says says so. also yes you will see the signs early from the heavens yes i said heavens because its biboical theres three heavens, anyways watch for the signs from a ove and earth, so its fine jesus is not yet as right now as no one knows the day time hour hellooooooooo

Can I just throw in that a lot of bad things can happen, a lot of people can die without it literally being "the end of the world". I agree and sympathize with OP that I have also felt this way for a while.

There are a lot of earthquakes hitting every single day, the pacific rim is lit up. the sun is more active than ever before. animals are dropping dead, beaching themselves, falling out of the sky. you cannot deny all these seemingly random events could be the early signs of something more catostrophic.

I think most people understand this is not literally the end of our physical planet. However being realistic, much of the Earth's population lives along coastlines and they are appearing more unstable with each passing week.

first off, don't be afraid, fear won't gain you a damn thing if the shtf, you will need to focus and act to do what is necessary to protect your kids, and then you will know that you have done enough.

you have already done enough raising your kids on your own. i know this because my mom raised four of us by herself since i has 6 and we all turned out fine, it was her strength and love that carried us, as it is with you.

not one person on this planet can predict what exactly is going to happen, or when. just like no one knows when they will die, it could be 5 minutes from now, a week, or many years, so why fear it?

fuku did it for me. i don't know what it was, i like conspiracy, but nothing really 'switched me on' in a fatalistic way. something about it just smelt of doom, then the cover up and the researching the entire non-event opened my eyes to the fact that this may not be 'immediate' doom, but nonetheless a very bleak outlook for the future unless something is done. immediate doom seems less frightening now....

Fear is a regular emotion that is built into our framework as humans. It's a vital aspect of sensing danger and responding to it. There's nothing at all wrong with fear, for that is a response to something we perceive that we sense will harm either our families or ourselves.

The body responds and releases adrenalin and this fight-or-flight response allows our eyes to dilate to see better, our digestion shuts down so the blood is supplied to our limbs for fighting or fleeing, we become hyperaware of danger and sensation in general, the blood vessels for our limbs open wider to allow more blood for muscular activity, breathing accelerates to get more oxygen to mitochondria for an increase in energy, the heart pumps faster to get more blood to the muscle. In essence, our entire body becomes infused with a warrior spirit and reach to pounce.

When fear perpetuates, then usually it's because we think that we can't cope with the danger. That releases chemicals in our body, mainly from the adrenals on a continuous basis. It produces exhaustion. Instead of the body being able to fight and pounce or even to run, it paralyzes people.

This transforms FEAR into being AFRAID.

Being afraid is not a normal response. What has happened is that your mind is now out of synch with your body and you have become fearful of coping. You've lost the trust in yourself. It's a lack of self-confidence.

Individuals long ago decided they couldn't just rely upon their families. They needed communities in order to best respond to danger in any realistic manner. Those communities were called tribes or sometimes clans.
They feared the unknown, and the best response to danger was from a community response. Since an individual could always falter in strength, get old, get sick, or merely be wounded and unable to protect themselves or their family, it was wisdom to find a community. There is strength in numbers.

No one family themselves can oppose a large threat. It was simply a pragmatic human response.

I urge you to find a community to build yourself up in. Surround yourself with mentors whatever your age. You have talents that help your family cope. Your children do as well. Finding a community in which your talents synergistically empower others and facilitate your own strength is key to not being perpetually afraid.

The unknown has always created fear in humanity. We sense a danger but cannot perceive its inner nature. It remains at the periphery of our senses.

The danger in an unthinking non-contemplative human is that we empower the “Danger” and give it some of our power. We yield a little of ourselves to it, like it's a vampire stealing away our force.

If you were a believer in things like Ki (or Chi) energy, then imagine it sucking away the energy that you are ordinarily bringing into yourself from the Universe. That enabling energy is wicked away and you feel a loss of strength. Isn't this how you feel?

Don't give the Unknown more power than it has. In reality, there is probably no good reason to be fearful. We should only generate fear in response to a clear and present danger. To perpetually be fearful (be afraid) will only exhaust our resources and resolve.

Most people fear death. Find some ways to cope by dispelling the fear of death. Take away that sting. We all will die sometime. It only happens once in moments. Life happens continuously and empowers. Focus on life. The times when we are most aware of the goodness of life are usually the times we most cherish and relish.

A parent fears harm to their loved ones above a fear of death. The only ways to prepare for that are practical ones that eliminate the dangers as much as possible by careful home defense, food and water supplies, and learning skills to provide for our families. All people throughout time regardless of education or wealth have done those things. So can you.

Much of life is about perception and outlook. Two different people will have two remarkably different outlooks based upon their assessment of life and the dangers of living it. One can choose to embrace life and live in the Eternal Now, hate and even despise some past event and let that awful filter paralyze their lives, or be fearful of a future and unable to cope.

In your heart, mind, and soul, you have some ideas about good ways to cope. Trust your instincts as long as they seem valid and true. Your feelings are valid, for they are your own ideas...but they may not reflect reality and hence be true. A parent is always thinking, “Is this true? Is this TRUTH?”.

That is how I have been feeling too. I worry about the safety of my children. They count on me to make everything Ok, and for once, I don't have answers about what may happen soon. All we have are speculations, prophesies, and such about December 21, but we don't know how we will be personally affected. I am trying to shove that worry back in the back of my mind, I have to try to be in a good mood, despite my worries. All I can think about is, what if I can't protect my kids, What if I can't keep them safe? Etc... it's some hard times we are facing, and uncertain times. I am feeling it, I have been for a while. May we try to all find some peace, despite the uncertainties.

I went to church, spoke to an open minded priest that mentioned everyone is feeling these immense changes coming upon us. He was in the confessional and relating to me that it was not only me doing a little freaking out.....he said, people can "feel" it....it does not go away,. something has changed. He agreed. Said to make my home into a refuge of peace.
Thought I would share this.

Don't fear what you can't control, just go with it. We are all in this together, this very generation, and we will pull through it together. I personally don't believe that things will fall to peices, just a change in society that we can all live with if we just let go. Peace to you and your family.

Growing up in a survivalist family back in the late 60's early 70's as a young child on .... I have been afraid of what I would have to do to keep my children safe. They are all grown now, and I'm still afraid. I'm a tough chick, but there are things in this world you just cannot defeat, things you cannot protect your children from ... end of story.
