DIVIDE AND CONQUER

I've been here on GLP just over two weeks and enjoying what everyone has to say....well, ALMOST everyone! Being a Christian, I've read a lot of the God and Jesus-type threads and what struck me is how much time everyone spends splitting hairs. If we're all Christians and believe in God and Jesus, then shouldn't that be enough? Doesn't Satan want to divide and conquer us? Even Jesus said that no one can speak of Him and God in a positive light and not belong to them. If this is the case, then why so much fighting? I know that belief in God is very personal and Jesus acknowledged that its unlikely any one person's perception of the Word would ever be exactly the same. As long as the concepts aren't in negation of the fundamental tenets of Christianity, and in the words of Rodney King, "can't we all just get along?" Seems to me during a time when Christians all over the World are being killed and slandered and persecuted, even the celebration of Christ's birth is becoming public enemy number one, doesn't it make sense we all agree to disagree knowing that our strength comes in the numbers we come to God with? Discussion is one thing but being petty over very insignificant points of Christianity in the whole picture just doesn't seem to be in the best interests of us being good Christians. I read a thread the other day with the story telling of the student Einstein and a college professor and found it so moving I shared it with all my friends and family and those I know who have struggled to come to the Lord. As good Christians we should be using that logic and poise to help bring others to the right place in their hearts to accept God and Jesus. I've been very reflective of my life recently due to all the things afoot in the World and have experienced attacks on my livelihood and reputation due to my belief in God. There are very many people these days infected with hatred and lack of morals...we see it every day, and it would be so much easier to give in and become just like everyone else and hide my light but I know by shining it and helping others to shine as well it makes me feel strong and wonderful and I really don't care very much any more what the World and Satan throws at me. That's what I've striven to achieve my whole life. Its my hope that's what you all strive for also. So, I guess the whole point of what I'm saying is reach out that olive branch, lay down your criticism and accept each other as believers. God bless you all, God bless the World. I don't know if He is coming, but I sure hope he comes soon; humanity has proved itself beyond a doubt (to me at least) since His death that man cannot rule himself. Try to be a little nicer to each other; reach out to those whose relationship with you has been strained, and try to smooth it out; talk to those who seem angry (I've found its usually because they feel helpless, lost, and alone and just need a friend to talk to). Try not to be so petty about the little things and move your focus to the important ones...each other. That's my game plan for now and I'm sticking to it and I pray daily for guidance and for guidance for others as well. I'm not perfect, far from it, but he recognizes the effort. God Bless!
