What do men want? Free beer.

Men are attracted to beer, just like slugs.

Put beer in the fridge, let any man know its there for the taking, and you'll soon have a man in your house.

It may not be one you want to keep, however. Or even the one you invited in the first place.

Keep beer stocked, they will stay. Its pretty simple.

I said it was more like men only focus on the beauty of the opposite sex. That men don't care of the personality, character and morals as long as the female "looks good".

I care most about character, second about morals, and third about personality. That is how I choose my women. Beauty is like icing on the cake...my least favorite part, because it's overwhelmingly sweet. Gives you a stomach-ache. Yuck. But a little is good.

A person doesn't have to be born beautiful. Grooming, dressing well, getting a good haircut can make up for a really ugly face. Exercise can make up for an ugly body. It's important to try to improve yourself...that ties in with character.

Beauty without the inner qualities is absolutely worthless...and is a big problem in society.

I think most women are beautiful anyway. Problem is many men have been brainwashed looking at supermodels and expecting to be with one. Personally I would like to be with my best friend. Unfortunately I haven't met her yet.

Obviously different people want different things. But I think in general men want women who are women, not women trying too hard to be men.

By the way OP....asking this question indicates honesty and a desire to try. A desire to set things right. That is good character, and at least to me, it's attractive.

Wondering if your words are just for men in your area of the world because in the States it seems women that look like a beauty queen with no common sense are the ones the fellows go after. My opinion of what I have seen in my life.

It's all about honesty and I do want to understand what men are really looking for. I see men complain all the time they can't find the right one and I want to say to them "maybe you are seeking the wrong kind of person". Seems they want to find the trophy woman. You know, the one that when she walks in a room all men turn their heads and wonder why she is with him.

What I was getting at in that posting is a matter of why I think that young men seem to have zero interest in marriage.

Why would they want to deal with it? They're told from birth that since they have a penis, they're stupid, worthless, have nothing to offer etc etc. Even if they're not told directly, just look at any TV sitcom. The husband is always some drooling moron that needs to drop to his knees and worship the brilliant goddess he is lucky to have around to think for him.

Then these young men look at the statistics that more than 50% of marriages end in divorce, followed by up to 50% of their gross earnings being garnished to pay for alimony and child support.

It's a rough world for these young men and women today do not provide them with the emotional support they need to drive their family to success.

A person who loves you and accepts you as you are and does not want to change you, doesn't constantly correct you, complain and want you to try and be somebody else.

Then again, most of us men aren't like that either.

Okay, you are talking about the young generation. Heck I am wondering about mine. The older ones 43 and up.

I think it depends on what people are looking for, and it goes both ways. When a person is interested in a long term relationship, I beleive that superficial beauty can be a negetiating factor. When a person is just interested in the sexual part of a relationship, the superficial beauty can be a deal breaker.

We look for certain characteristics in a person depending on our intention with that person. If you see a good looking guy and think... wonder what he looks like naked... you are interested in that person for physicial reasons... if you meet a person and they make you feel warm and fuzzy inside and you want to get to know them better, the intention is for a long term relationship.

I have had a real problem with this and internet dating. I meet someone online and they seem so warm and fuzzy, and then I meet them in person and they are friggin horn dogs. This is what is missing with internet dating, it is difficult to determine a persons intentions when you cant see thier face or their actions in person.

Oh and I think that what a guy is looking for just depends on the guy. Some guys want a companion, some guys want a trophy, some guys want a cook and housekeeper, others may just want a warm body, still others may just want someone to tell them they love them every now and then, and still others are looking for their mommies... the list goes on and on.

I found out the hard way that the most important thing you can do in a potential relationship is to be honest with your partner in all aspects. If you are looking for a little stepford wife... let her know that... If you are looking for a Mr. Fixit... tell him. So many relationships go down the tubes because people beleive that what they want in a person is not relevant to the relationship, and in my opinion... its the cake that holds up the icing!

I hope to meet one through a shared interest...for instance, if I'm doing something very important in the world, it's likely I will meet my dream girl there. Because she will be one that's doing very important things as well, instead of going to the bar or club on the weekends and wasting her life. What is the point of life? To help others, to live in line with our conscience, to improve ourselves (these are some of my answers)...my girl will be doing these things. I can't be with someone who isn't similar to me in this sense.

I haven't gone to church in a long time, but when I reach the age of 30, if I'm still single I will start going. Because that's a place where they will most likely have some inner qualities.

Speaking of church...the book of Proverbs in the bible has some of the best ideas on how to live life and what men and women should be like. Not trying to push religion, here...just might be something people want to explore. It's totally different from what we're told in modern society, so it's refreshing.

What I seek in a partner is just that, a PARTNER. Like I said to my fiance before we ended up splitting up was pretty to the point:

"I'll be the engine that drives us, you steer the wheel to get us there!"

As for attributes, sure I would want my partner to be attractive to me. This is true for anyone. They don't have to be something everyone else sees as "hot", just so long as *I* find her attractive, then the physical love will never die. As for personality attributes, I would love to find a woman that carries herself with grace and dignity. Someone that almost glows with her pride and wisdom.

I feel that a woman should allow the man to take the lead, but be strong enough to verbally slap the hell out of him in private if he's gotten out of line.

EDIT: That said, I don't want someone who has no backbone and bows to my will. That's unattractive unto itself. A woman's strength should be a graceful strength while we men will be the battering ram that will roar at people who try to harm her.
