You know, I have not yet listened to Hick's intro although I've employed this technique for years in my informal way. Let me know if you find one worth watching and post a link!

Yes, I believe that it works with physical problems and have used it with success - accompanied by good natural healing techniques. You have to do both!

It's all about joining forces with the Universe to effect positive change.

It is true but you have to be at the right optimal health level for it to work. Perhaps you have much trauma and blocks. I have found that if I was not well mentally and physically it didn't work. Have you heard of the reconnection by Eric Pearl? If you do a couple of sessions in that I guarantee you will get results.

I did read The Secret and I found that the author did everything in their power to refrain from using the word God in place of 'universe'. I am sure it was to benefit financially from every possible belief system and yet, imho, is a rip off of the Word of God and what He promises.

Even without God, for everyone is an atheist before they come to a knowledge of Him, He certainly did not leave mankind clueless or without the ability to succeed. This 'formula' is at best, basic common sense and any person who puts their mind to something will succeed...history proves this with or without God or the 'universe'.

I'll just say that with God, we learn that it is not the me, me, me and this I need a new car, a bigger house, a thinner body or a hot girlfriend/boyfriend, but that we become the best person we can spiritually so that we can be there for those who have not found their way to becoming a solid and successful person who can then 'give' and love others. It is a circle and its purpose is to lead others to the knowledge of God...not space and time, to which He created.

I think there are a lot of effective techniques. I mainly meditate and visualize. I visualize in a natural setting whenever possible. I have a ranch with lots of nooks and crannies, benches and swings. Every sunny or halfway decent day, I am outdoors communing with nature. It is a perfect setting in which to relax and visualize your goals.

Every night, I visualize and create within my mind's eye. I have a very good imagination and can create incredible detail in my mental space. I work this like an artist on a canvas and then animate it so I can follow every step and find the path to my goal. I follow the path again and see more detail. Again and I see more possibilities. It will feel like a cosmic brainstorm and I often take notes. I bought a voice recorder to tape ideas. Sometimes they flurry by so fast I feel like I am channeling and as fast as I write, I miss a lot. I do it again to learn more. It's a process. I don't worry about what I miss. I just tap in again if I feel the need.

I used to use props and I think they are helpful. I just find I don't need them anymore but would certainly employ them if I felt it would help - and they do if you need. Personally, I like drawing and colored pencils and markers. Other people use collage. To be frank, I don't think it matters so much - just use anything that helps the thoughts clear and flow, and enhances creative brainstorming.

This is a fascinating discussion and I am going to favorite this thread so I can come back to it time and time again.

Your article reminded me of something I need to work on in this new year, and that is getting rid of fear and negative thinking. While The Secret can bring about all sorts of positive things in life, the converse is also true. If I become obsessed with fears about what I DON'T want to happen in the future, the same laws will apply and I may just bring to pass the very things I fear.

This happens sometimes but take heart and come back to it later. I have experienced hitting a stone wall on occasion and had a terrible time getting started at all, to be frank. I have been at that place where it seems that you cannot make any headway and know how demoralizing it can be. One thing is for sure -- your situation - as well as your feelings about it -- will change. And change again.

I don't know the particulars of your current situation, but it could be that you are not actively or effectively making headway on the physical plane - it's critical (in most cases) to do both. If you care to get an account on this site, you can communicate specifics to me and I may be able to mentor you a bit in the process.

You must believe that it will come to you at some point, even if it's not working now. In the meantime, do empowerment work and general metaphysical work. You will find your place best if you relax and allow the connection. It took me a while to get going, too.

I do agree that the presentation was a bit too secular -- for my tastes as well. I am a deeply spiritual and totally nonreligious person. I did feel it lacking in that department. It could have been a much richer presentation and had it been packaged with God, the element of spiritual responsibility would not have been left out. I hope I put my finger in it for you. That was the main complaint I had.

AC Unknowingly I have been utilizing this method for years. Most importantly it is sublime you cannot become all consumed but more of a meditation..

I write things down in day timers create lists ....sort of a wish list some times pages long... one or two word it remaims relavant a priority behind the scene of your every day ife...Important point is carefull what you wish for as mentioned by the OP is very true...

Christ filled life is in parrallel sometime hard to remain true and consistent

If this seems like a simple approach, may I remind you that this is a post on GLP and not a book. Added: And one of my points is that you don't need a complicated approach to make manifestation work for you. Just like you can drive a car quite well without having any more than the simplest understanding of how it works.

And ... although this may indeed be an oversimplification, the Universe is absolutely about winning in the metaphysical sense. By "winning", I am obviously not proposing that the Universe wishes to win the jackpot (indeed, it is the jackpot). It means that the Universe is optimally self-actualizing. I am confident that most readers understood what I meant. Obviously, not all.

The empty atheistic worldview embraces a random and chaotic basis to the Universe. It is much more accurate to understand it as a sea of potential. Once you can move from your rigid and limited philosophical viewpoint, the magic of the Universe will open up to you. The good news is that it's never too late

LOL - it was an economic/social outlook reading and I thought it was amazing. Unfortunately, that thread has been deleted. As far as the dinar goes... true it's not revalued (yet), but it has not lost value either. I wish I could say that about some of my other investments, lol.

The secret is the real deal and the OP is right on point.

The only thing I would add is; in my experience, after becoming clear of my wishes, using emotion within my visualizations (feeling and imagining how amazingly happy, lucky, and grateful I am going to feel when things manifest, etc), especially love and happiness, increase the speed/probability of your manifestations.

The universe is chaotic, in the sense that anything and everything can happen at anytime (given the circumstance), but I would argue that the universe, our life, and life in general, is PERFECT (everything happens for a reason). Every bit of life, and everything, from the beginning of time until now is a perfect, accurate calculation for means to an ultimate goal. That goal; the perfect one, unity of all consciousnesses/energy, which is accomplished through love.

I used this technique to travel to both Thailand & Africa. With Thailand I bought a large framed picture of a beach/boat in Thailand & told the universe I am going there & within 5 weeks I was on my way. Did almost the same with Cairo & Kenya & was there within 3 weeks! You have to be positive with what you are manifesting & just believe it will happen :)
