How does one become an Instructor?
 Quoting: FatalW1shes

First you take the basic course of the discipline. (NRA Basic Pistol, BAsic Rifle.. Etc)

Then you contact a TC - A training counselor that is certified to train instructors. You will take the instructor course with him.

After finishing that course, You will get your credentials in about 4 weeks.

Honestly though, there are tons of decent shooters out there that think they can be instructors. The simple truth is that this is a teaching job, if you are not a good teacher, this isn't for you. Being a good shooter is secondary to the ability to effectively teach.

What would you recommend for a 1911 style pistol and why? I am thinking about going Kimber, I love them, but might go glock, just because it is much cheaper to shoot.

I already own a 22 revolver and a 380 pistol, the 45 is next on the list.

I am a female and I am considering a CCW permit, but with the new legislation on firearms being considered that is incredibly draconian; and with the county I am moving to being very strict on who can get a CCW permit, I am not sure this is possible.

So my question is, barring being able to get the CCW permit, what is my best course of self defense? The area I am going to be attending evening classes is known to be quite dangerous. The campus has also have not implemented adequate security measures.

Hey OP, do you know anything about the Port Arthur (Aussie) massacre?

In which a retarded, uncoordinated idiot, at one point shot 32 people with 29 bullets (leaving one in the chamber whilst reloading).

A few guys said not many people could have done that, esp shooting from the hip.

Any thoughts?

Question:
Can you shoot two people with one bullet is possible to get more then (1) Kill with just one shot?

Answer:
If the person is using Target ammo (Standard Ammo) you run the risk of the bullet going through one person and into another. I saw it happen a few times in Iraq, and Afghanistan

Do you agree that the easy way to convert an anti-gun person is to simply take them out shooting with you and teaching them the basics? Unfortunately I don't have many people to take shooting with me but this seems to be the case and seems like the best way to show them what they really don't know.

Here is a free pointer for every one out there that likes to shoot. If you use these four fundamentals every time you will always hit what your aiming at.

4 fundamentals of Shooting

1) Steady Position
2) sight Alignment /sight Pitcher
3) Breathing Control
4) Trigger Pull / Squeeze

Views on the Springfield XDS?
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 28368227

Its a great Firearm but I dont like the safety on it at all.
 Quoting: USMC0369

How so?
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 28368227

Like I said before I love the Glock-19 for my CCW weapon, but do not recommend it for a novice shooter do to the Safe Action Trigger (Lack of a Safety)

I’m not a fan of the 1911 style of safety that the Springfield XD has on it all. I’ve saw them mess up to many times in the past and cause a Major malfunction.

When you’re talking about a CCW handgun you need something that you know will fire every time.
 Quoting: USMC0369

You're shitting me? The XDS, XD and XD-M are bar none the best semi-automatic handguns you can buy. I have run literally and I am not exaggerating... 10's of 1,000's of rounds through all flavors of XD's and have had a total of 1... I repeat 1... jam that was caused by a mis-shaped shell. (Russian Ammo)... As far as the Action... the XD and Glocks are nearly identical other than the additional safety built into the TANG that a Glock does not have.

How effective do you consider .22LR for self defense at a distance of 100yds or less, specifically high velocity hollow points? Many consider it as a plinking round or for varmint hunting, yet ballistics tests on these hollow points have shown similar expansion and penetration to a .38.
