Quoting: Thorz Hamster In a rare BBC interview, Neil's brother, Dean, says he remembers Neil showing him a written version of the now-historical phrase months before the Apollo 11 mission launched. Why did Neil Armstrong lie? [link to www.christianpost.com] If he said he prepared the remarks months in advance, then how does that stack in the process compared with saying he thought about it spontaneously while on the moon? It is not really an outright lie, but more of something on the order of "poetic license." For that matter he could have written several different things to say and selected the one we know historically while he was on the moon. The real problem is the flimsy gold scotch gift wrapping tape on the alleged moon lander and other things. "With an eye made quiet by the power of harmony and the deep power of joy, we see into the life of things." William Wordsworth And yet the same revolutionary beliefs for which our forebears fought are still at issue around the globe—the belief that the rights of man come not from the generosity of the state, but from the hand of God. John F. Kennedy Inaugural Address Lincoln's economic advisor Henry C. Carey explained the universal issue in his 1851 Harmony of Interests: "Two systems are before the world.... One looks to pauperism, ignorance, depopulation, and barbarism; the other to increasing wealth, comfort, intelligence, combination of action, and civilization. One looks towards universal war; the other towards universal peace. One is the English system; the other ... the American system, for ... elevating while equalizing the condition of man throughout the world." "Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and I'm not sure about the former." - Albert Einstein |

See "Kubrick's Odyssey". I was being facetious Great Documentary though My mistake. I didn't pick up on that. :) Ya, I liked it, too. I didn't realize that what I'd posted was just a trailer for it. I guess you can't view it on YouTube. Not sure. But it's for sale at sacred-mysteries.com. What's interesting is that there are several parts of "The Shining" where movie director Stanley Kubrick deviates from the book written by Stephen King. And there's no good, rational, apparent reason for doing so, except...(Jay Weidner explains why in "Kubrick's Odyssey"). Very compelling. Two examples of this that immediately come to mind are: 1) the room number that people are NOT supposed to EVER go in. Kubrick changed the room number from the room's number in King's book. The number of the room in the movie coincides with the distance in miles from the earth to the moon. 2) the twins who the little boy keeps seeing. In King's book, there was just ONE kid. In the movie, Kubrick had TWINS, aka "Gemini" -- the pre-Apollo mission that orbited the moon, prior to the Apollo missions. This is just a taste of what's included in the rest of the documentary. You won't be disappointed. Apollo astronauts couldn't have passed through Van Allen's Belt. Van Allen wore suspenders. Tip the butler. Blow the shofar. |

If Galileo hadn't mused? If Da Vinci hadn't mused? Isn't a question the first step in a scientific process? We haven't reached the age of the robot...yet. As far as lying, why would Neil Armstrong tell a world-wide audience via a media interview, that he came up with one of the most famous sayings in the history of mankind while he was on the moon, rather than, as his brother Dean revealed, on earth, months earlier? Why wouldn't he have simply told the truth? Why distort reality? Wouldn't he want an accurate record of what really happened for posterity? And if he lied about that, what else did he lie about? But you're a mind reader, and via telepathy, Neil Armstrong revealed to you that he lied so "people would stop bugging me". Hmmmm...let's consider that for a moment. How would saying that stop people from bugging him? Derailment on the logic train. As I said before, the O.J. Simpson case was lost because Detective Mark Fuhrman told one lie: that he'd never used the "n" word before. When it was proved he had, his entire testimony was compromised. We are discussing the honesty of NASA (that includes the astronauts, obviously) with regard to their account of the alleged Apollo moon missions. When the commander of the first mission to land on the moon and the first man to walk on the moon lies about the circumstances upon which one of the most famous quotes uttered by man was constructed and for which he will be forever known, it bears further scrutiny. The last contact I had with him was an unanswered Email I sent him while he was in the hospital after his heart operation. One of the first questions I asked Neil in 1977 was, "How many other things had he thought of to say when he first set foot on the moon?" and his exact words were, "That's it. There were no others." You can speculate that this meant he only thought of it when he landed on the moon but knowing Neil as the most thoughtful and precise engineer EVER, he would not have approached this question of what to say on the spur of the moment, but would have prepared it months in advance. And if you knew him, you would know that he didn't lie. If there was a discrepancy between what he said on two different occasions, it was, to him, a meaningless thing. He was, in reality, just what he appeared to be...an extraordinary man of great courage and humility and worthy of the respect he received from the world. |
