Anyone else heard of the purposed California EXITING fee??

I'm sure they want to but wouldn't that be false imprisonment?

If they are referring to businesses, they made their own bed on that one. They are the most business hostile state in the country.

I believe if this is for real, and it does pass....and no one DOES anything about it...

then it is the last bit of tolerance data mining needed to prove how absolutely lazy the american people as a whole really are...and how easy it will be to advance on anything else they deem fit.

Note that the first half or so of the article is just a tard rant. The actual ballot isn't mentioned until about the 7th paragraph in.

It's true a 36% to 55% one time tax for dying or leaving and an additional 17% to 35% for high income earners in the state who make 150K a year. It will never pass ridiculous.

New Jersey also has an exit tax, so I imagine it's similar OP

btw, this is why I have been warning my friends and clients for over 4 years now to move out of bankrupt states if possible

These states will get more and more desperate and on top of passing measures to increasngly criminalize ordinary behavior, they will resort to measures such as exit taxes and high penalties in order to punish those attempting to leave, especially high earners and business owners

It has become so unbelievably socialistic (bordering on Communist) that some people are fed up with the nonsense that government legislature imposes. No one can survive here anymore. The two biggest contributor city to this madness is L.A., and they call themselves activists. That should give you a clearer picture. They think that strangling businesses by these measures will convince them to stay. Not on your life. Basically, they have dug their own grave if more prominent companies decide to exit to greener pastures. These two links should give you an understanding of how frightening things have become.
