I tried googling it a bit and I figured some smart people on here may know more about it.

Anyone know? :D

I have some stuff I could donate to them today if I wanted to, I was thinking of donating some junk I have anyway but if I can get some tax rebates that would be great!

don't know about the US but in Canada, if the donation is not monetary = nothing
however if your donation is monetary then the tax break for the donation would be at your taxation rate. example $1000 tax rate 30% then you would receive a tax credit of $300

You get receipts of estimated amounts that you write off on your taxes...though all thrift stores in my area no longer do that.
