Grats, your still not passed it. It takes along time to fully get rid of the urge. Keep that attitude for you will need it. I'm going on 15 years now and feel great! I don't miss it at all.

It was the best thing I ever did.. You will lose some friends. Do not let it bother you. I personally stayed away from bars or social drinkers for 9 months or so but it gets easier and easier with time. I quit almost 20 years ago now... and did it without AA. I just woke up one day and was like your killing yourself.. this is no way to live.

thanks. i was never a big drinker anyway - just on the weekend. i was just surprised to find how one drinking session per week could cause so much damage to the body.

Maybe you are allergic to hops because that does not seem like enough drinking to warrant such an improvement. Anyway, glad you are feeling better regarding of the reason.

Your symptoms do not match a weekly drinking binge and if they did then I would suggest visiting a doctor immediately as the damage to your liver would be extensive.

You should go see a doctor. Glad too here you stopped drinking but yellowing of the eyes is jaundice which could mean liver damage. Even though you only stated that you drank once a week you didn't say how much. Go get a checkup.

Extremely unlikely unless it was in a very advanced stage, in which case OP would almost certainly be suffering in many other ways (when they did not mention) and would likely be receiving treatment already, hence my previous post. There are many, much more likely possibilities.

Although I am not disputing your suggestion that the OP may wish to go for a checkup should they feel so inclined.

The moderate drinkers on here are the ones most in denial about how dangerous even once a week drinking can be!!

Moderate drinking is having one or two, most days of the week. It's been shown to be healthy.

A glass of wine, or a guinness with dinner, is a far cry from weekend binging.

i'm op. i think that each of us are affected to different degrees. i used to live quite a sedentary life, so i think it took longer for my body to eliminate booze toxins (my hang overs lasted 2-3 days). but i'm going to start working out again, esp since having more energy and dropping weight since i quit drinking.
