i don't get it...stars are exploding all the time and never posed any threat before. besides, light is so much faster than sound that if its 3.7 billion light years away (or whatever it was) then the sound won't be here for a very very very long time.

i'm no mathematician but i bet earth wont even be here when the sound waves arrive. think about it...if there's a noticeable difference between the image of a plane flying overhead and the sound it makes, think of how much greater the difference would be if that plane was ONE lightyear away. now multiply that by 3.7 billion. and this "me tel u now" says it's coming soon?

I did find the part about the Ocean very interesting. I have always wonder why we have not taken advantage of the Ocean for a water source. We have the technology to take the Salt out of the water. That is how Dubai does it. The built they're own Salt water purification plant. I know it is expensive. But if you think about how bottle water is flying off the shelf in a local Walmart. With all of the areas of the World in dire need of water, we as a World really have no reason not to do this.

The more I think about this, the only rational conclusion is that TPTP simply don't WANT their people to have abundance. THEY are very good at what they do. Very good.

I remember back about 10 years ago, during a particularly nasty drought in Texas, I posited the idea (to noone important) that we should build de-salinization plants in the Gulf of Mexico and PUMP water via HUGE pipelines. I thought that it would be able to fill (and keep them that way) EVERY water reservoir in the U.S.

It would give people jobs and solve our drought issues forever. If we can go to Mars, we can build the shit out of some de-salinization plants.

In all honesty I don't believe they have the Will or the Want to do anything to help people. The drought in Texas has been insane the last couple of years. I'm sure other parts of the World may had or have been even worse.


To actually have elected officials that take on these type of projects and to make them happen for the sake and welfare of the people.. ( oh, never mind I am just dreaming).
