Queen Beatrix is a very influential person. Apparently she owns a shitload of Shell, or RDS, as in Royal Dutch Shell, tho that has never been confirmed nor denied.

Important person? Yes. She is said to be the number one or number two wealthiest woman in the entire world. Her holdings in Royal Dutch Shell alone are in the billions. Then real estate in every major city in the world and particularly a lot of it in Amsterdam (in the very best parts of Amsterdam, of course.) All that is separate from the "crown estate" which provides income to the royals (just like the UK Crown Estate does for the English Royals) which they support their lives on. Their allowances are generous to say the least - and mostly tax exempt, too.

There are rumored to be all kinds of trusts and blind trusts that provide for invested money to be funneled back to the queen and her heirs that is far out of reach of the taxing authorities of The Netherlands or anywhere else.
