The term 'al qaeda' was given to Usama and his gang of jihadists by US intelligence. They had no idea they were being called that. To them they were on a jihad, just like in Libya, just like in Syria. But you see our regime needs us to differentiate between jihadists that help us other throw opposing regimes or jihadists that don't like our regime.

In Libya and Syria they're called freedom fighters, in Mali and Algeria they are called al qaeda.

In general "the shop" has always been an acronym for the CIA.

Al Qaeda is in fact a creation of the CIA.
It was created in the 1980's to support special forces agents in combating Russian forces in Afghanistan.

Many people don't realize this but Al Qaeda was created by the U.S. Government!
who is currently in control of they're actions is only a matter of speculation.
